Beautiful story
Revisado: 12-14-24
I loved the story, as most of Julia Queen’s novels. What I didn’t like at all was the narrator. All the characters sounded as if they were drunk and petulant. I finished it because I couldn’t return it anymore.

Historia
To these seven narratives of neurological disorder Dr. Sacks brings the same humanity, poetic observation, and infectious sense of wonder that are apparent in his bestsellers Awakenings and The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat. These men, women, and one extraordinary child emerge as brilliantly adaptive personalities, whose conditions have not so much debilitated them as ushered them into another reality.

Past and still in used perspectives on mental health
Revisado: 06-22-23
This was an interesting pick at the past, but unfortunately still very much on use perspective of mental health. It was even shocking at some points, but you have to remember that this book was written more than 2 decades ago. We still have a long way to go to understand and normalize mental health in general and neurodiversity.

Great performance
Revisado: 11-19-21
I loved Neil Gaiman’s performance! The story is great, of course, as most of his work. But I think that his performance made me enjoy it even more.

Historia
Sixteen-year-old Starr Carter moves between two worlds: the poor neighborhood where she lives and the fancy suburban prep school she attends. The uneasy balance between these worlds is shattered when Starr witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend Khalil at the hands of a police officer. Khalil was unarmed. Soon afterward, his death is a national headline. Some are calling him a thug, maybe even a drug dealer and a gangbanger. Protesters are taking to the streets in Khalil’s name.

Almost a fairytale
Revisado: 12-19-17
It is a nice story, nice likable characters, not very believable though. I’m sure there are true stories like this one, but the writer didn’t do much to elaborate the characters, to let us know through them, about the reality of the hate we all can give.
I think the author just gives a very simplistic approach to a big complex and ancient, still stupid, hate.
