Expected More insights about Love and Autism
Revisado: 06-03-24
I did not realize the book would be only stories of neurodivergent couples. I expected more analysis and insight and also additional information to support couples. The stories were interesting and I could partially relate to one. Its hard to find the right selection of couples for the stories, which in the end will never satisfy all. Being in a relationship for 23 years, I was hoping to see more longer term relatationships.

Historia
W. Edwards Deming details the system of transformation that underlies the "14 Points for Management" presented in Out of the Crisis. The "Deming System of Profound Knowledge", as it is called, consists of four parts: appreciation for a system, knowledge about variation, theory of knowledge, and psychology. Describing the prevailing management style as a prison, Deming describes how applying the System of Profound Knowledge increases productivity, quality, and people's joy in work and joy in learning.

unexpected gem still very applicable
Revisado: 07-17-22
I felt that this was really in line with my beliefs and I noticed in many places that this is still not the way the world works. there are many parts of this book that expresses how we should keep looking to the roots. There are of course things which are out of date but you must take it with a grain of salt because you just replace what you hear with something else and you see how relevant it is today.

Historia
“Mine” is one of the first words babies learn, and by the time we grow up, the idea of ownership seems natural, whether we are buying a cup of coffee or a house. But who controls the space behind your airplane seat: you, reclining, or the squished laptop user behind you? Why is plagiarism wrong, but it’s okay to knock off a recipe or a dress design? And after a snowstorm, why does a chair in the street hold your parking space in Chicago, while in New York you lose both the space and the chair?

very much enjoyed the listen. would be great if the scope was more international and not mostly focused on examples from the USA. How are these concepts common globally?

Historia
It’s a belief that unites the left and right, psychologists and philosophers, writers and historians. It drives the headlines that surround us and the laws that touch our lives. From Machiavelli to Hobbes, Freud to Dawkins, the roots of this belief have sunk deep into Western thought. Human beings, we’re taught, are by nature selfish and governed by self-interest.

How will artificial intelligence affect crime, war, justice, jobs, society, and our very sense of being human? The rise of AI has the potential to transform our future more than any other technology - and there's nobody better qualified or situated to explore that future than Max Tegmark, an MIT professor who's helped mainstream research on how to keep AI beneficial.

Historia
For decades Richard Dawkins has been the world's most brilliant scientific communicator, consistently illuminating the wonders of nature and attacking faulty logic. Science in the Soul brings together 42 essays, polemics, and paeans - culled from personal papers, newspapers, lectures, and online salons - all written with Dawkins' characteristic erudition, remorseless wit, and unjaded awe of the natural world.

collection which seem to be thrown together
Revisado: 03-21-18
At times I marveled at what I was hearing. At other times I wondered why I was wasting my time hearing it. Overall this is a collection of stories strewn together with a lack of glue and overall point to be summarized. It felt like Dawkings was flaunting his greatness while throwing together stories instead of writing what could be a very good book. The lack of conclusion which would pull everything together was very fraustrating, especially when this was replaced by a eulogy of two of his family members!

Historia
Combining cutting-edge research with broad anecdotal evidence from her work as a clinical psychologist to illustrate just how invaluable spirituality is to a child's mental and physical health, Miller translates these findings into practical advice for parents, giving them concrete ways to develop and encourage their children's - as well as their own - well-being. In this provocative, conversation-starting book, Dr. Miller presents us with a pioneering new way to think about parenting our modern youth.

good message. way too wordy and repetitive
Revisado: 06-04-15
contains a good message and was worth the read. way too repetitive though, feeling like the writer is trying to convince you with their words rather than facts and data.
contains references to.studies but does not go into the details of them. many single person examples instead of stats to try and prove a point.
overall I wish there was more depth and reliance on studies and data.
