Historia
We often don't realize how much control we have over our thoughts, feelings, and actions. On some days, the most minor irritation can upset us, but, on others, we are in our best form and can rise to challenges with grace. These fluctuations depend on the neural networks firing in our brains, but we have the power to consciously break hardwired thought patterns. Author Due Quach developed an intimate understanding of the brain during her personal journey of healing from PTSD.

A way through
Revisado: 03-12-23
From a veteran w PTSD and recovering nurse,..this book was a refreshing balance of personal experiences, reflections and explorations of how to harness practices for mind body and spirit. Due invites us to walk with her as she relates her story and explorations and re-creates her life through a framework of knowledge and practices that she weaved together…and shares here. Inspiring and down to earth…a partner and guide for re-discovering meaning in life.

Historia
This book is about pleasure. It’s also about pain. Most important, it’s about how to find the delicate balance between the two, and why now more than ever finding balance is essential. We’re living in a time of unprecedented access to high-reward, high-dopamine stimuli: drugs, food, news, gambling, shopping, gaming, texting, sexting, Facebooking, Instagramming, YouTubing, tweeting....

Informative, inspiring, fan-f-ing-tastic
Revisado: 05-17-22
I heard about this book and thought yeah yeah yeah, it’s all over the news. I stepped away from Facebook and Instagram three months ago because I noticed it was competing with other priorities and felt draining. I decided to sample it and then listen to the whole thing. It’s personal, insightful, empowering and, best of all, real. I preferred listening than reading. Love Dr Lembke’s narration.

Historia
It is Christmas Eve 2020. I find myself alone in the desert on a horse. Stopping for a moment to catch my breath, the moment takes my breath away again. In the distance, the three pyramids of Giza glow in the golden light of the setting sun. As the sky darkens, the Christmas star, formed by the great conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn, begins to shine brighter as night falls.

A meditation on re-membering and truly living
Revisado: 12-10-21
I listened to this book within 12 hours. Lisa’s heart flowed from her voice, the sound of her soul and her words, her truth and insight gained both through her life and connection with Egypt through visits and meditation. Such a beautiful, inspiring work. It is so rich that I know I will be listening again.

Historia
Sara suffered a debilitating fear of asserting herself. Spencer experienced crippling social anxiety. Bonnie was shut down, disconnected from her feelings. These patients all came to psychotherapist Hilary Jacobs Hendel seeking treatment for depression, but in fact none of them were chemically depressed. Rather, Jacobs Hendel found that they’d all experienced traumas in their youth that caused them to put up emotional defenses that masqueraded as symptoms of depression. Jacobs Hendel led these patients and others toward lives newly capable of joy and fulfillment....

Learn skills toward deeper self-awareness and engaging in living
Revisado: 01-26-21
This book can be used by one person but also fits really nicely in a small group or buy a pair of people. I love that it could be a tool and counseling formally or and helping ourselves learn how to work through experiences in formally. Easy to read, moving and simple but powerful exercises. I can’t imagine it’s possible to read this book and not have some change happen or seed planted.

Inspiring
Revisado: 08-02-20
Truly appreciated the diverse approach Hari took in exploring the root causes of increasing depression and anxiety in the western world. A very thoughtful, thought-provoking and moving book. I felt like I was accompanying him on his exploration within different communities and with individuals. Thank you for taking the time to do ensure this exploration and asking some hard questions.
