Didn’t love the plot.

I LOVE J.T. Geissinger. I’ve read all of her books and historically rated a majority of them as 4 and 5 stars. This one just didn’t do it for me though. The plot was entirely too slow to get moving and the twist could be seen a mile away. The ending was also easily guessed. It just felt like it had a weird pace. Troy Duran was great as usual though!

It was a decent book, but I’ve read the entire series and this has been my least favorite so far. Something about the flow of the story felt off. I liked the plot. It was really easy to guess what would happen but it kind of left you waiting anxiously for *when* it would happen so that kept me wanting to keep listening to see when it would happen. That was a welcomed thing. I would have gotten a little bored without it. The female narrator was also a little off. She would vacillate between whispering so I would have to turn it up to hear her and then suddenly talking really loudly. She also had really strange pauses. It almost sounded like someone reading poetry with the kind of pauses that leave off the end of the thought and then say it after the pause for more emphasis. While this works great for poetry, it kind of throws off the vibe of a book. Especially in more intimate scenes. She does have a nice voice though.

It’s one of the few books I wish I had *more* detail. One of the characters is shot and we never hear anything else again on if they lived. Scenes moved quickly and I wish I would have more insight on the mood in the room etc. it was a great book though and it kept me entertained throughout.

Slow in parts

This book just couldn’t keep my interest. The male voice made it even harder. He’s okay (not great) when voicing his own parts but his voice is really whiny and grating when voicing other character’s words. I picked up a different book with 5 hours left in this book. I had some outside work to do and this book doesn’t keep me engaged enough.
