Historia
All Michael Hollister wanted was death. What he got was time travel. Convicted of murder, and with nothing left to live for, Michael commits suicide in his jail cell in 1977, then opens his eyes in 1966, in his eight-year-old body, with all memories of his previous life intact. His first thoughts are of the dark intentions of his father. When the man who raised him once again tries to do the unthinkable, Michael has a chance to right his childhood's greatest wrong. But, can he do that without becoming a killer all over again?

One of the Best in the Series
Revisado: 07-08-23
The layers in this story build until the very end. Don’t want to spoil anything. So I will just say there were many times I shed a tear for the characters in this story. Except for Michael’s Dad. Thanks Shawn for this story.

Historia
Ella has a Thing. She sees a classmate grow up to become a caring nurse. A neighbor's son murdered in a drive-by shooting. Things that haven't happened yet. Kev, born while Los Angeles burned around them, wants to protect his sister from a power that could destroy her. But when Kev is incarcerated, Ella must decide what it means to watch her brother suffer while holding the ability to wreck cities in her hands. Rooted in the hope that can live in anger, Riot Baby is as much an intimate family story as a global dystopian narrative.

Everywhere All At Once
Revisado: 03-31-23
The history of violence linked to the rapid decline via analog was an excellent touch. The balance of power to end it all based on two angry young people of color holding each other in check with only their shared love for their mother and her faith in god..is unforgettable.

Letter to Future Self
Revisado: 10-10-22
This book should be in anyone who works in the publishing industry.
It helps authors understand the importance of setting goals.
It reminds the rest of the field, how to keep to our goals and to never discount the dreams of the authors we take on because there are things to look for in an author and their project if the number of books sold is not the main point of it all.

A book for the Ages
Revisado: 09-15-22
The story told here s one of triumph over the odds. Many stories that deal with African Americans and their contributions to American society are displayed and then reshaped by narrative in the trailblazer’s voice.
This story tells how skills are passed down by generations despite the social structure which would have us believe the events could not and were not possible. I highly recommend this book for anyone who thinks what they have been called to do is not possible. It shows that when one hears the call she must follow. It is the call to be a trailblazer.

Words. We use them all the time, every day, mostly without giving them much thought at all. We take for granted that they’re here at our disposal whenever we need them. But if you’ve ever wished you could communicate more effectively, words are the place to start. It’s incumbent upon you to choose the best words to accomplish your goals, because how you choose to communicate influences—well, everything! The power of communication shapes our professional goals, our relationships, and our lives—so the words we choose to use carry a great deal of power.

Home Boy Makes Good!
Revisado: 12-02-21
This book is the icing on what is by any estimation a huge cake. Will Smith has done it all and here within these pages he bears all. I am glad I selected the full experience by listening to his story in his own voice.
The ability to share with total honesty the hows and whys of his success will leave you cheering. The low points will leave you with a different take on never judge a book by its cover.
I took notes on his reading list. Gonna get through it….one book at a time. What a ride.

Historia
"I have a dream today." On August 28, 1963, Martin Luther King spoke these words as he addressed a crowd of more than 200,000 civil rights protesters gathered at The Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC. Two months earlier, President John Kennedy had sent a civil rights bill to Congress, but it was struck down. Although Kennedy was concerned about the possibility of widespread violence during this protest, he realized he was powerless to stop it and embraced the movement instead.

I have listened to this recording on several different occasions.
I must say, with each listen, I know this speech is one for the ages.
When anyone references, especially in these times of shifting narratives return to it.
And know this History is hard pressed to find a more powerful delivery of the spoken word!
