I had no idea this book existed. Somehow I stumbled upon it and my only regret is not having read it the minute it came out. It is absolutely stunning. As a mental health professional, I was incredibly impressed, not only with the author's resiliency and creativity and faith, but in her ability to articulate this process in such a meaningful way. Just as impressive, is the author's skill in putting her five and six year old memories into an understandable format for the reader. This is no small feat considering the context in which a child experiences the world. Her memories are true memories with all the components of authenticity, sound, sight, smell, emotion. This is a story of a person created to be magnificent, who could have allowed her traumatic experiences to to reject her God given gifts. Instead she leaned into her faith, used her brilliant mind, elevated her kindness and humility, and never stopped searching, to become all that God created her to be. Just the fact that she had the courage to write this book after all the exposure and lack of privacy she experienced, is a testament to her growth and resilience. After reading this book you will certainly love and admire Mahtob, but you will also see the healing that can happen in your own life. If she can do it, you certainly can. We all can.

Yes, one person can change a life. And in this case, that person is Mahtob Mahmoody.

This is a sad tale and I do feel sorry for Matthew Perry. But not for all the reasons he feels sorry for himself. I feel sorry for him because his "handlers" allowed him to write this book. Perhaps much like the Friends machine that enabled him for their millions, they shut their eyes and opened their pockets.

Perry is not sober yet. He's still taking Suboxone and has not taken the opportunity to really grow up. Substance abusing since 15, this is where his maturity seems to have arrested and it manifests itself all throughout the book.

He says he'd trade places in a minute with his friend who lives meagerly and worries about money everyday. Perry has absolutely no idea what he is saying, as he has never known the terror poverty can bring, as he sits in his luxurious existence staring at his view of the ocean. Spending months in a rehab facility over and over and over is not something most people have the luxury of doing. I'm sure he would scoff at the word luxury, but only because he's never experienced the alternative, what most people have to endure with a similar illness, Another person surviving what he did, would spend the rest of their life in the cruelty of a nursing home and die a miserable death.

in the end he tips his hat to the sick establishment that enabled him and that he helped create, that he chooses to continue in. Of course he does. Despite how much I really disliked this book, I do pray that he, by the grace of God, somehow pulls himself out of this delusional haze and is able to actually do some good.

I listened to this book in one "sitting". I would leave it for a minute and have to go back. Incredibly relevant for our times, well written and action packed.

Imagine for a moment there was no James O'Keefe. Where would you go for journalism you can trust, that is 100 % verifiable, that seeks to be unbiased and simply tell the truth. The answer: absolutely no where. There are other good news sources, although dwindling. But Project Veritas is the only excellent news source available. I am old enough to remember investigative journalism who spoke truth to power. At a young age Mr. O'Keefe has brought that dying breed of journalism back to life. Thank you Mr. O'Keefe. I have a dwindling number of modern day heroes, but you are solidly one of them.

For those leaving reviews that say this is just conservative commentary, I would urge you to actually read this book. Thank goodness I ignored those comments. I am an independent voter and strongly dislike partisan rhetoric. This is not that. Not at all. This book calls out the ruling class, establishment Republicans, Democrats, and Big business to name a few. It is a warning and motivation for ordinary people to start becoming truly aware of the motives of the ruling class who divide us. It is encouragement that we can take our country back and make an impact on the world if we are only awar.. This journey should start with this gem of a book. It describes how both "sides" (which are really one in the same) stubbornly stay on their side, exaggerating and falsifying claims for the sake of talking points, while we, the ones it will actually affect, are left with the consequence of nothing being done. The Ruling Class'are sheilded from the consequences of their decisions, and we, ordinary citizens, continue to absorb the consequences. You will be so glad you took the time to read this revealing and powerful book.

I read this book a little over a year ago out of sheer curiosity. I don't usually read this kind of book as they are often slanted and biased. But this book proved to be more valuable to me as I had new insight into the Clinton mode of operation and motivation. As I watch the way Clinton reacts, what she says, in each situation, this book becomes more and more true. The character depiction of Hillary Clinton was endlessly fascinating and extremely accurate to the Hillary I see today. Clinton's mode of operation as described in this book is the same today, decades later. In light of the recent Donna Brazille book and her allegations against Hillary Clinton, this book is even more relevant. It describes a young Hillary and a young Bill from the perspective of someone who knew them when they were both young, especially Bill, whom the author knew as a child And while I don't feel the author was entirely fair to Hillary in some regards, her overall assessment was extremely kind in comparison to what we now know to be true. The most illuminating insight to me was Hillary's tendency to blame others for the precise thing she herself has done in secret. Almost as a compulsive self-damning deflection. She can't help but give herself away by compulsively pointing to others, sometimes in blatant provable lies, to point her audience to the secret dirt she herself has actually committed.
This is the epitome of the typical compulsive liar. The more bizarre the lie, the more hypocritical the lie, the bigger the rush, when someone believes the story. There are countless examples of this behavior by Hillary, especially in recent months. The first time I met a compulsive liar was in the second grade when I watched an otherwise inarticulate girl gave a detailed description to the teacher describing what I had allegedly done, which was actually what I witnessed her do seconds earlier. She expressed theatrical outrage at my immorality and convincing detail of how she came to know about my "crime". I feel very sorry for this girl today, knowing what kind of life must have led to the perfection of lie telling at the age of 7. In a way, I feel sorry for Hillary as well. She convinced herself that the end (becoming president) justified the means, and in the end, she was her own worst enemy. You will see that character flaw clearly in this book, among many other fascinating details about both the Clintons, and therefore, I highly recommend this book.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would absolutely recommend this book. I could not "put it down" until it was finished. I have so much respect for Leah Remini's bravery and willingness to relive her experience in the form of writing this wonderful book.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Troublemaker?

I personally liked the way she wrapped up all she had learned and learned to turn her hurtful experience into bettering herself. Her bravery is inspiring and I loved every story of her standing up to these bullies and tyrants.

What does Leah Remini bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Her personality comes through. No one is funnier with a sarcastic comment.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I loved the way she learned to accept herself just as she is and in fact celebrate it. Her book and her style feel like sitting down with a friend who has an awful story to tell you, but who gives it to you in a way that it isn't hard to hear.

Any additional comments?

Go Leah Remini! I hope your book sells millions. You deserve it!
