Historia
Most books about the history of humanity pursue either a historical or a biological approach, but Dr. Yuval Noah Harari breaks the mold with this highly original book. From examining the role evolving humans have played in the global ecosystem to charting the rise of empires, Sapiens integrates history and science to reconsider accepted narratives, connect past developments with contemporary concerns, and examine specific events within the context of larger ideas.

Best book I've read and heard in the last 57 years
Revisado: 08-16-23
When reading it seemed like every paragraph I needed to think about what I had learned and how it reshaped my understanding of humanity. I read it twice and then got the audible so I could listen to it again.
There is no intellectual snobbery but it is intellect at its highest, no attempt to use long obfuscating words when a simple one will do. Just very interesting concepts explained simply, clearly and memorably.
I am an avid reader and this is the best book I have read so far in my life.

Historia
Victorian London night: A lamplighter discovers the body of a very old man lying dead in an alley. Scotland Yard calls in the eminent physician Dr. Conan to determine the cause of death. The brilliant and opinionated Conan is often consulted by Scotland Yard. But his sometimes unorthodox solutions frequently have him butting heads with incredulous Yard officials. Despite the man's apparent age, Dr. Conan determines that the victim is no older than 30 and died as the result of rapid aging.

Was not expecting it to be this good
Revisado: 03-08-23
The author really has a vibe for the chilling Victorian tale. The narrator's performance was perfect, GREAT CASTING. The plot moves quickly, no waiting for the author to paint sunsets here and yet I was fully emersed in the spooky foggy streets of old London. Jack the Ripper would have been at home in this tale.
So good I finished it in 2 days... now I have to see what else this author has.

Historia
The whateverpocalypse. That’s what Touré, a twenty-something Cambridge coder, calls it after waking up one morning to find himself seemingly the only person left in the city. Once he finds Robbie and Carol, two equally disoriented Harvard freshmen, he realizes he isn’t alone, but the name sticks: Whateverpocalypse. But it doesn’t explain where everyone went. It doesn’t explain how the city became overgrown with vegetation in the space of a night. Or how wild animals with no fear of humans came to roam the streets.

Awesome apocalypse- nice twist - sprinkles of science fiction
Revisado: 01-02-22
I’m not going to give any plot away, you know it’s going to be an apocalypse story. It’s well told, good characters, well paced and I didn’t feel the need to skip any of it.
I love the mysteries and resolutions. The personal dynamics felt real.

Historia
“Long live the King” hailed Entertainment Weekly upon publication of Stephen King’s On Writing. Part memoir, part master class by one of the bestselling authors of all time, this superb volume is a revealing and practical view of the writer’s craft, comprising the basic tools of the trade every writer must have. King’s advice is grounded in his vivid memories from childhood through his emergence as a writer, from his struggling early career to his widely reported, near-fatal accident in 1999—and how the inextricable link between writing and living spurred his recovery.

Lessons from the great man himself
Revisado: 08-23-21
I cannot do what Mr King does. I have to plot. But he has lots of good advice, and I have got myself my own virtual nail to collect my ever growing list of rejections.
This is 50% biography and 50% writers inspiration and 50% life advice (I was never good at maths)
