Excellent mystery, well paced with a believable first-person narrator. I learned something about property law, too.

I listen to a lot of audiobooks, and I’m usually impressed at the pro narrators who can make their voices sound more male or female as the characters demand. The male narrator of this book made all the female voices sound like cartoon characters. It was distracting and off putting. He also mispronounced some words, which is not uncommon but seemed to happen more than usual.
The book was not very engaging either, as it read more like a nonfiction report than a novel. 2.5 stars overall.

Claire Foy’s narration is wonderful! She gives each character a unique voice, and nails the accents. Kate Morton’s work never disappoints.

Sir Patrick Stewart tells the story of his life and career with heart, humor, and honesty. His narration is splendid!

This book will make you question every dust jacket. It’s researched and written. You really want to keep reading as the author digs into the con artist who wrote (apparently) Go Ask Alice, the influential multimillion selling book that purported to be a teenager’s diary.

A lovely tale of a Black anti-integration movement in the early Civil Rights era. I don’t know if there was really a place like New Jessup, but this story showed me another angle and helped me understand it.

Beautifully written and perfectly narrated. The characters are so human and real, and the settings of England and Italy wonderfully evocative.

Kate Morton writes a specific genre, and some of her books work better than others. Here the underlying mystery is so convoluted, and the final revelation drawn out so interminably, I just wanted to get to the end. The modern-day character is likable enough, but the three elderly sisters are mostly just creepy.

Perfect narration by the authors! The Howard “boys” provide an intimate look into this oddly normal show-business family and some fascinating inside tidbits about TV in the 60s and 70s. The book sparked so many memories — I even saw “Wild Country” in the theater and remember it fondly.
Unusually for a work of nonfiction, I didn’t want this one to end. Superb.

Kate Morton is a master of these tales that cover multiple timelines and wide-reaching geography, always bubbling toward the conclusion you know is coming.
The narrator does a fine job except with the characters who are supposed to be Australian; they just sound English. But that doesn’t detract from the fun of this story.
