Historia
With courage, grace, and powerful insight, bestselling author Kristin Hannah captures the epic panorama of World War II and illuminates an intimate part of history seldom seen: the women's war. The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France—a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. It is a novel for everyone, a novel for a lifetime.

Incredibly gripping story
Revisado: 09-01-24
I genuinely did not know where this story was going from one moment to the next. There were a couple inconsistencies in the storyline, but they were so minor that they were easy to look past.
I did struggle with the narrator a bit. Her voice was robotic at times and there was a lot of time that you could hear the saliva in her mouth, and as someone with pretty bad misophonia, there were a few times I almost decided it wasn’t worth finishing. BUT, the story ultimately made it worth it and I’m glad I finished it!

Historia
A decade ago, Emily Carlino vanished after her car broke down on a California highway. She was presumed to be one of serial killer Ronny Lee Jessup’s victims whose remains were never found. Writer David Thorne still hasn’t recovered from losing the love of his life, or from the guilt of not being there to save her. Then David meets Maddison Sutton, beguiling, playful, and keenly aware of all David has lost. But what really takes his breath away is that everything about Maddison, down to her kisses, is just like Emily.

Huh.
Revisado: 04-09-21
It started out great. Really. I enjoyed the premise, was looking forward to how it would play out. But then it just got kinda weird. It took a science-fiction turn that I didn’t expect, and that’s not the type of book I’m typically interested in. If you’re a fan of SF, this may be for you. Just wasn’t for me.

Historia
Bernadette Fox is notorious. To her Microsoft-guru husband, she's a fearlessly opinionated partner; to fellow private-school mothers in Seattle, she's a disgrace; to design mavens, she's a revolutionary architect, and to 15-year-old Bee, she is a best friend and, simply, Mom.
Then Bernadette disappears. It began when Bee aced her report card and claimed her promised reward: a family trip to Antarctica. But Bernadette's intensifying allergy to Seattle - and people in general - has made her so agoraphobic that a virtual assistant in India now runs her most basic errands.

Great Story

Loved how the book was written! It kept me super captivated the entire time. My ONLY complaint was the narrator’s accents. The Australian accent kept running between a Boston and an English accent. Somewhat hard to listen to.

Historia
Alice Rose is a foundling, discovered on the Yorkshire moors above Haworth as a baby. Adopted but then later rejected again by a horrid stepmother, Alice struggles to find a place where she belongs. Only baking - the scent of cinnamon and citrus and the feel of butter and flour between her fingers - brings a comforting sense of home. So it seems natural that when she finally decides to return to Haworth, Alice turns to baking again, taking over a run-down little teashop and working to set up an afternoon tea emporium.
