Amazing narration and a perfect star wars chapter
Revisado: 12-05-24
I don’t think I’ll ever be able to listen to another Star Wars book narrator after hearing Davis voice these characters. Obi wan, Qui Gon, Windu, Yoda, and more were all spot on it made this story feel like another movie. New characters were brought to life perfectly as well.
Gray’s writing was also the perfect balance of humor, grief, nostalgia, and action that I love in Star Wars. I treasured getting to spend some extra time with young Obi wan, and this story made me love Qui Gon in a way I hadn’t before. I love when newer star wars media fits in and makes the original concepts of the movies meaningful, and gives more thought to characters we know and love.

Historia
When Edmund Hillary first conquered Mt. Everest, Sherpa Tenzing Norgay was at his side. Indeed, for as long as Westerners have been climbing the Himalaya, Sherpas have been the unsung heroes in the background. In August 2008, when eleven climbers lost their lives on K2, the world’s most dangerous peak, two Sherpas survived. They had emerged from poverty and political turmoil to become two of the most skillful mountaineers on earth. Based on unprecedented access and interviews, Buried in the Sky reveals their astonishing story for the first time.

Interesting story but weird reader performance?
Revisado: 08-22-24
The story is compelling and I’m glad to read a mountaineering story not focused on white western men. However, the reader does imitate everyone’s accents in every dialogue which did not sit well with me. I understand wanting to differentiate character but it seemed to me to cross a line. I wouldn’t write the book off because of that though; I definitely enjoyed the story

Amazing narration and relevant plot
Revisado: 08-15-24
The narrator differentiates the voices so thoughtfully; I can imagine each character perfectly. An amazing story—could have easily felt fake but was so incredibly real and touched me deeply as someone who struggles with mental health. I recommend this book to anyone, and is really one of my few 5 stars in both story and performance.
