Still as immersive.
Revisado: 11-26-23
I really enjoy the story, the characters are fun, interesting, the world feels alive. The perspective switches sometimes but not too much. There is progression, maybe not as much as I'd please, but its ramping up.
My only problem is with calling cultivation divinity still. In almost every single wuxia/xanxia, cultivation only involves divinity when they trade "earthly" qi or "heavenly" qi or whatever.

Good story
Revisado: 09-27-22
Really good story. The leveling system was very poorly explained for the initial stages, and the differences between starting stages poorly explained. The characters reflect Xanxia well, and was an enjoyable experience. I will be getting the next book, but I don't know if I love it enough for book 3 yet. Mountain dale press is a big bonus.

Jake is working at the neighborhood market under his apartment when the world ends. He expected nuclear war, a computer virus, or even climate change burning everyone to a crisp to bring about the downfall of civilization. But cruel and arbitrary gods from another world? Who would have guessed that? When these cruel gods shuffled Earth like a deck of cards, nothing was in the same place anymore. Monsters, dungeons, and magical items appear scattered across the globe. And suddenly, everyone has access to a new, strange magical card system that gives them magical powers.

A Good story
Revisado: 07-17-22
While it's good, the story moves too fast. The power creep is a little egregious, and the foundations of the story are often ignored or forgotten, and it could really use a rewrite.
Easy 4/5, I do not regret spending my credit on it, it was enjoyable and I want to listen to another set of books written by this author. For it being his first commercial work it was immensely enjoyable, there's a lot I'd like to recommend, but my biggest problem is pacing and stakes. In no way would I say the story didn't go in a logical direction, but the path and ending of each arc was the exact example of power creep. This author has incredible potential, as well as incredible foresight by getting what I consider to be one of the best narrators on Audible. I'll eagerly await the next book.

With great corruption comes great power. Jack is pretty sure that's the way the saying goes. It's a good thing, too, for the war in Ter’nodril, which he’d hoped would spell the beginning of the end for the DIR, instead left him corrupted, body and soul. The good news is that the Fallen used the Blight that now fills his veins as a weapon in their war against the gods themselves. He’s sure that he can find a way to use it, too, to destroy Valia Online once and for all. He even knows exactly who he'll test its power against first: Manhart.

A great story, A great but predictable twist.
Revisado: 12-11-21
If you've read a lot of books, and listen to a lot of books within genres like this, the twist ending isn't so surprising, but it being surprising isn't required for it to be told exceptionally well. I enjoyed every minute of this book. Jeff Hayes and the crew did an incredible job as always, and it is and was a pleasure to listen to this book through their voices.

Artorian shrugged off moonfall and war like it was a gentle rain and must now face new trials. Specifically: life in the world created by the Dungeon Core, Cal. Unfortunately, Cal has only put together the most bare-bones of systems. He's no stranger to solving near impossible problems; how difficult could it be to smooth out the slew of angry Mages with bitter rivalries, uncountable hidden secrets, a complete inability to cultivate, and a Dungeon creating messes at full speed? One way or another, it is up to Artorian to pick up the pieces.

A relaxed story telling experience
Revisado: 05-02-21
No drama, no muss, and a lot of fuss. This story was a wonderful relaxed tale post-book 5 about world and universe management as seen from a "gods" perspective. This story won't draw very many new things, but it is very enjoyable, funny, and relaxed. I enjoyed every minute of it. My biggest problem with these side tales or post tales is that they don't say where or when they take part on another tales time-table. For instance, book 7 of AA says its taking part in Completionist, with no context on what book of completionist it will be in. (assuming of course)
I just wish the previous AA said which book should be where. This book doesn't explicitly say its directly after book 5 of Divine Dungeon either. Which isn't a problem, just mildly annoying as listeners have to puzzle it out.

Caught in between the armies is Wu Ying's village and all those that he cares about. Advised to keep away from the approaching war, Wu Ying will have to decide what is more important - his journey to immortality or the ties to the mortal that he holds onto still. A well told fetch quest
Revisado: 12-03-20
This book was meh as far as the series go, as a longtime reader of this genre I understand and agree with the growth, but the love story was poorly written, poorly thought through, and obviously going to go the way it did. I would recommend making the story a bit longer and giving more growth time for character interactions, as a significant portion of the stories are his seniors talking to him, rather than real meaningful conversations. Good, not great, worth the money, but not going to knock your socks off.

Historia
Joe has started to draw attention to himself and his abilities. While some of the attention is good and allows for personal growth, most of it is from various organizations that feel threatened by the sudden upswing of power that Joe's guild - The Wanderers - is attaining. As the threat to Earth begins to reach its peak, all of humanity has a choice: flee to Eternium, or stay for an uncertain future. Some stay, some go, some don't make the choice quickly enough.

Good Story, poor narration
Revisado: 11-14-20
Under no circumstances do I think Luke Daniels is a poor narrator, nor do I think he does a poor job... but his performance lacks soul. His interpretation of the characters Vikas gave soul is poor, even the authors hilarious references to pop culture fall flat. There was an Avatar reference that was so underperformed by this narrator that had I not been paying active attention, I would have missed. Luke is a good narrator, but not for this series, at least not from HALFWAY THROUGH THE SERIES FOR TWO BOOK SERIES IN A ROW.
Its absolutely ridiculous this kind of gross incompetence is allowed to happen, if you are going to take over a story, at least recognize the references and narrate them appropriately, the puns fell far flatter than the previous narrator, the jokes were stale, character names being pronounced so differently than I was used to(A Ten vs ATen) the FINAL JOKE was pronounced with as much nuance as a brick to the face.
As a review of the story, it was wonderful, I enjoyed it, and will continue listening, ONLY because I love the story of this universe, NOT because I enjoy the stale effort this narrator gave.
As I said before, Luke Daniels does good work, but this does not suit him. He clearly wasn't invested in this story like Vikas was, and he clearly didn't listen to the previous novels to give the listener a smooth transition. His competency isn't in question, its his commitment to this craft, especially when taking over for others. The amount of southern and Texan accents I had to listen to were annoying. Elon Musk suddenly turned Texan, and for that, I can't even.

Wonderful
Revisado: 11-11-20
I absolutely loved this audio book. I'm not looking forward to switching narrators in the next book over "creative differences". You don't start a series with one narrator then switch to another halfway through, twice in a row. Its absolutely ridiculous both of these series were switched out in the middle of recording. Shame on Dakota Krout and Tantor Media for allowing this to happen. There's no excuse for switching narrators when the current narrator was absolutely stellar, had wonderful diction and was enjoyable to listen to. It doesn't matter how good the next one is, you don't reinvent the wheel for no reason. The only reasonable excuse would be if Vikas Adam's asked for far too much for narrating.
Regicide itself is a wonderful and enjoyable book, and I wholeheartedly recommend it people who can stand a second sudden change between narrators for seemingly no reason. The jokes were on point, enjoyable, the bear puns gave me paws every time to laugh. Clearly the author is a big fan of pop culture and gaming memes.

Ramping up the world
Revisado: 10-19-20
For those of you who pay attention, the world foreshadowing twist has been obvious for books, but its interesting how we're heading there. I can't say I dislike it, nor the norse mythology reached into in previous instances. Very interesting and enjoyable to listen to!

Great book, great narration, great epilogue.
Revisado: 09-07-20
I love it when a book has a good story and totally disrupts the expectations of the reader, such as with the epilog. it wasn't a perfect story, and it didn't necessarily go the way I wanted it to, but it was solid, had good plot points and the narrator did a wonderful job.
One point of i.provement I want to see is in character and organization description. The Collective for instance was barely described or given much explanation. Maybe every 10+ chapter have a blurb about the Lead at the time remembering information or information about a character not seen in a while.
