Speaks In Absolutes About Everything
Revisado: 12-05-14
Would you try another book from Bill O'Reilly and Martin Dugard and/or Bill O'Reilly?
Maybe
What did you like best about this story?
Good details about Herod.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Argument.
Any additional comments?
Bill tries to add some tension or drama to the story by making strong definitive statements and it rubbed me the wrong way. There is no way that anyone could know the truth about certain things that he says as absolute. You also cannot argue against his bold statements, because you do not know either. Just don't write it under the guise of historical fact.

If you could sum up The New Psycho-Cybernetics in three words, what would they be?
Self Image is Powerful
Who was your favorite character and why?
Failure and Success Mechanisms
Any additional comments?
I found myself talking with people about what I had learned several times after listening to this book. It is most powerful in the middle. A plastic surgeon's view on how self image drives our lives. IQ is not the most powerful predictor of success in life, it is self image.

Would you consider the audio edition of Rich Dad Poor Dad to be better than the print version?
The definition of wealth is "how long you can live without working". That fancy house will be working against you if you don't have a job - that is not the measure of success. The concept of assets vs. liabilities is clear and make you want to get income generation vehicles; not more things. It is a must read for everyone who thinks they are getting ahead. Maybe you are not. This book is well produced and you will enjoy listening to it. It has a nice story baseline.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

What if charisma could be taught? For the first time, science and technology have taken charisma apart, figured it out and turned it into an applied science: In controlled laboratory experiments, researchers could raise or lower people's level of charisma as if they were turning a dial. What you'll find here is practical magic: unique knowledge, drawn from a variety of sciences, revealing what charisma really is and how it works. You'll get both the insights and the techniques you need to apply this knowledge. The world will become your lab, and every person you meet, a chance to experiment.

Good ideas, Lags in middle, highly edited voice.
Revisado: 02-20-13
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Yes, this is time well spent. I would recommend this book.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
It starts off good, but really drops off as the concepts that you are learning become really basic in the middle. The foundation is good.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
I don't thing that I have listened to a book with more injected words. It is just too many. It is understandable that changes were made and they did not want to re-record the entire book, but the edits really add no value and it is mostly just one or two words each time. It is almost a demonic kind of injection...:)
What did you take away from The Charisma Myth that you can apply to your work?
People must believe that you have the power to effect them and if you are fully present, with warmth, you got charisma.

There used to be two teams in every workplace: management and labor. Now there’s a third team, the linchpins. These people invent, lead (regardless of title), connect others, make things happen, and create order out of chaos. They figure out what to do when there’s no rule book. They delight and challenge their customers and peers. They love their work, pour their best selves into it, and turn each day into a kind of art.

Revisado: 01-17-13
What would have made Linchpin better?
If it would get to the point and help you to see the path to becoming a Linchpin would help. It talks in general observations about the world and repeats itself.
What was most disappointing about Seth Godin’s story?
He beat around the message and never really gives it to you.
How could the performance have been better?
Get a pro to read it.
What character would you cut from Linchpin?
NA
Any additional comments?

Historia
Writer, poet, and teacher Natalie Goldberg shows you how to unleash your "wild mind" - the true source of your creative power. In this crisp mix of memoir, teaching guide, nonfiction and poetry, Goldberg strips creativity to the essential mind that is "raw, full of energy, alive, and hungry." Natalie is compassionate, practical, and humorous. "Even if it's just a leg hanging out the window, she says, "write it down." Highlights include: provocative "try this" exercises to compel you into action, advice on how to find time to write, how to discover your personal style, how to make sentences come alive, and how to overcome procrastination and writer's block. She'll also explore the larger vision of the writer's task: knowing when to take risks as a writer and a person, learning self-acceptance in life and art.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. If you need an "I can do it" kick, this is a good read
What did you like best about this story?
Natalie is great to connect with in her story.
What about Natalie Goldberg’s performance did you like?
She has a lot of personality in her reading, because it is about her and her core.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
You are great if you will just show others, they will love you and what you do.
Any additional comments?
If you are trying to write a book, I would recommend this one. She is cool and easy to fall in love with as you connect with her story. The theme is just write. Volume is king and being open and raw is the key. Read this book to write yours, but also just read this book for the fun of it. Let a new friend in your car - you will enjoy it.

Historia
In The First Christmas, two of today's top Jesus scholars, Marcus J. Borg and John Dominic Crossan, join forces to show how history has biased our reading of the nativity story as it appears in the gospels of Matthew and Luke. Borg and Crossan help us to see this well-known narrative afresh by answering the question, "What do these stories mean?" in the context of both the first century and the 21st century. They successfully show that the Christmas story, read in its original context, is far richer and more challenging than people imagine.

Quality if you are looking for understanding
Revisado: 12-11-12
What made the experience of listening to The First Christmas the most enjoyable?
The quality of thought was high. I enjoyed the value these two guys bring to the thinking of the time.
Who was your favorite character and why?
It is not about characters, but themes Christ brought to the world and the various take each Godspell writer had on them.
Which scene was your favorite?
Justice through peace or Justice through violence.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It made me think. I like to listen to a book that gives me a new thought that I had not had myself. There are a few good nuggets in this book.
Any additional comments?
This is worth it. I generally like this type of book, but most times these type writers will be too high brow or pompous to be worth the time. These guys are just trying to explain.
They also do not seem to have an agenda of converting your or proving that God does not exist. The are reflective with context.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Not really. There are better stories.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
Good.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
It was OK. It was not as much the reader as the writer, but I lost who was who. I listen to books a good deal and this is not usually a problem.
Do you think The Name of the Rose needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
No. It was finished.
