Abby Jimenez always seems to make me love what would be an otherwise typical meet-cute. Something about her characters and the way she writes the story. Is it predictable? Yes. Do I feel good after listening to it? Yes.

Also gotta give it to Julia Whelan and Zachary Webber. Their narrative adds to the likability of this story.

Bottom line… do you like meet-cutes? Are you looking for a quick feel good book? Then this is one for you.

Decent story. Didn’t love it.

Cool idea! I was hooked on the premise but found the overall story to be not as exciting. I was hoping for “can’t stop listening” and got “let me speed this up so I can finish”.

I really enjoyed this book from the very beginning. I like how the story toggles between now and 11 years ago, and how it’s told by three characters. It was perfectly brought together in the end.

All the narrations were good. They story was great.

Very enjoyable

First time reading Mike Omer. The story was fast paced and caught my attention from the beginning. It left me wanting more.

Only thing I would say could have been better is the narrator’s Mass accent.

Lisa Jackson disappoints again

Not sure why I keep getting her books. I promised myself I was going to stop but somehow I keep getting sucked in by the summary.

This is about a five popular high school “friends” and their larger circle of friends. I find it insulting that a woman could write such annoying weak female characters. Each character is more dreadful than the other. You’re more than halftime through the book before any character is likeable.

It wasn’t until about 4 hours left that I found it even remotely enjoyable. Then why did I continue to read? Good question. I kept thinking the lot has to get better. And it did. Somewhat. Ok and yes I’m a glutton for punishment.

If you like Lisa Jackson books I suppose you will like this one. I do not like her books and found this one probably the worst of her others that I’ve read. The characters are annoying, stupid and dreadful. The premise is good. The execution of the premise is awful.

Beautiful

This is a non-fiction book about the three women who most influenced the author’s life. It’s a beautiful story about his grandmother, mother and wife.

The chapters devoted to each person are filled with emotional stories. Some stories will make you laugh, some will make you sad, other angry. In the end the book warmed my heart and made me long for more.

The narration was good. I liked that the author himself was telling the story.

Spoiled unlikeable characters

I love a good mystery but this wasn’t it. There were too many characters. They were all spoiled and pathetic. I’d rather watch Gossip Girl or Cruel Intentions. This was a grab out version of those.

This ruined Tami Hoag for me

My husband and I listened to the Tami Hoag Broussard series and the Oak Knolls. We decided to give this a try. While some are better than others, this one was terrible. It was more sleazy romance novel meets soft crime novel. I thought the characters were predictable, especially the main characters. The love story was so typical. Tough strong cowboy who can’t love meets a straight talking loveable city girl. There were few surprises. This book is also 15+ hours long. Way too long for this predictable story. If you like Tami Hoag don’t read this.

What did you love best about Behind Closed Doors?

This is a psychological thriller that has you thinking from the very beginning. There's nothing explicit about it, which almost makes this scarier. In some books i think the main character is an idiot. In this one I was rooting for her from the beginning.
