Historia
Middle-aged governess Guinevere Pettigrew visits her employment agency one morning and is mistakenly sent to the glitzy home of a nightclub singer. Miss Pettigrew meets the glamorous Miss Delysia LaFosse and embarks on a whirlwind adventure. These two very different women soon become friends, and Miss Pettigrew proves to be the perfect companion. Instead of having to look after unruly children, Miss Pettigrew spends her evening at a party. But what will happen when the day finally ends?

One of my favorites
Revisado: 07-18-24
I had seen the movie only about 20 times or so when I learned it was a book. Given how that normally goes, I was hesitant to read it. But my goodness. While it is somewhat different from the movie in terms of events and a few minor character shifts, all the charm is there with depth added to Miss Lafosse and dear Miss Pettigrew

Historia
Ella of Frell wants nothing more than to be free of Lucinda's gift of obedience and feel that she belongs to herself. For how can she truly belong to herself if she knows that at any time, anyone can order her to hop on one foot, cut off her hand, or betray her kingdom, and she'll have to obey?

I love this book, but only like the audio
Revisado: 06-02-24
I love this book. I have read it 18 times, and listened to it twice. The reader does well, especially for their age, but editing/production wise there are some issues. There are at least 2 if not 3 noticeably long pauses(like I checked to see if I had hit pause, but it was still playing. Just nothing was happening). And the music is honestly very distracting. It's often harsh cords, and louder than is necessary. The magic twinkle sounds are fine, they were generally more quiet and less frequent, but whatever the other thing was they played often for the ball/dancing scenes, or just at ends of chapters, was not my favorite. I would like it 10 times better without that sound in there.
Overall, it's okay. I'm picking though, cause its my favorite book.

Historia
Persuasion, Jane Austen's last novel, is a tale of love and marriage told with irony and insight. Anne Elliot and Captain Wentworth have met and seperated years before. Their reunion, after the passage or irrecoverable years of their youth, forces a recognition of the false values that drove them apart.

excellent
Revisado: 09-17-21
The story telling is excellent, and it is done very well. The only reason I did not put 5 stars all across was that on the editing, there are occasionally long periods of silence between sentences. Not a big deal, but it was rather noticeable when it happened.
