Historia
Inspired by her research for the hit podcast Ultra, Rachel Maddow charts the rise of a wild American strain of authoritarianism that has been alive on the far-right edge of our politics for the better part of a century. Before and even after our troops had begun fighting abroad in World War II, a clandestine network flooded the country with disinformation aimed at sapping the strength of the U.S. war effort and persuading Americans that our natural alliance was with the Axis, not against it.

Shocking parallels
Revisado: 12-13-23
This was an incredible journey of education. I had no idea any of this happened in America in the 1930s and 1940s. This is what people need to know today, so we don't repeat the mistakes of the past.

Historia
As the ninth century wanes, Alfred the Great lies dying, his dream of a unified England in danger and his kingdom on the brink of chaos. While his son, Edward, has been named his successor, there are other Saxon claimants to the throne - as well as ambitious pagan Vikings to the north. Uhtred, the Saxon-born, Viking-raised warrior, whose life seems to shadow the making of England itself, is torn between his vows and his desires....

The narrator obviously didn't...
Revisado: 01-10-17
Is there anything you would change about this book?
...listen to the other books. Why completely change the pronunciations? You-tread? It's so distracting. I can only hope the previous narrators return. It makes all the difference in the world to be a storyteller who paints pictures with the emotion of his words and somebody who is lamely reading. So disappointing!
What did you like best about this story?
The story is one of the ages. Well crafted.
Would you be willing to try another one of Stephen Perring’s performances?
No.
Did Death of Kings inspire you to do anything?
Buy the next book.
Any additional comments?
The author should have had editorial control over the narration. You-tread of Bambera?

Everybody Writes is a go-to guide to attracting and retaining customers through stellar online communication, because in our content-driven world, every one of us is, in fact, a writer. If you have a web site, you are a publisher. If you are on social media, you are in marketing. And that means that we are all relying on our words to carry our marketing messages. We are all writers.

This is what I've been looking for
Revisado: 04-16-16
Would you listen to Everybody Writes again? Why?
Everybody Writes is a great resource for writers, marketers, web content creators and anyone who needs to feel empowered to communicate. I discovered the book during a recent professional conference when I colleague mentioned that it had been a recent book-of-the-month feature on their career development Facebook group.
During my commutes, I listen to books from my audible.com membership. I’m always on the lookout for good content. Author Ann Handley has motivated me to be a better writer and social media advocate for my employer. At work, I produce journalistic stories for the workforce and the public to showcase what our organization does. As it turns out, this is called brand journalism and it’s a thing. There are a myriad of tips on how to become a better writer and content producer.
The social media guidance in the book is spot-on. We often just post things without a strategy. Ann goes into detail on what platforms work best for targeting your stakeholders. I will definitely look into leveraging LinkedIn as a professional network to build brand awareness and make my organization into a thought leader in our field.
I highly recommend this book!
What was one of the most memorable moments of Everybody Writes?
Brand journalism is what I do. I always thought I was just a public affairs specialist!
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The writing is not about selling something, but in promoting your organization as a leader in its field.
Any additional comments?
Thank you!

Good listen!
Revisado: 06-18-13
If you could sum up The Physics of Star Trek in three words, what would they be?
Lawrence Krauss is a prominent theoretical physicist today, but this was written back in the 1990s. Wow! Great insights on what is possible and what may be impossible. Who doesn't love Star Trek? I just watched the Voyager episode last night!
