A fun series continues
Revisado: 03-09-19
Another superb mystery for Amelia to solve aongside her partner in all sense of the word Rick It makes perfect sense for Amelia to be in a relationship with him, and that added layer of trust and intuition helps them both out on this missing doll mystery. The circumstances the doll is stolen under puzzled me greatly, and while I had a vague idea about the doll itself which I was partially correct on, the rest left me clueless, until they were slowly woven into the story in the magical way that every book from Linda is.
I loved the added danger and intrigue from the FBI, who I had a false theory about, since their presence meant Amelia & Rick had to up their game, pushing their detecting skills to their limit. While occasionally being romantically involved hampers the case, Amelia is able to protect herself better when she learns to shoot and is allowed carry a gun. It was sweet how she finally came around using one, and she conceals it in a way that's useful to her. (I realise some readers may have different views on guns so I'd like to make clear this is just my opinion)
I liked how Amelia struggled internally, knowing that Rick wanted to marry her, and only through the new characters within the story is Amelia able to work out her feelings on the issue. I was amazed at what happened between Amelia and her local policeman-it certainly widens options for future cases, and that's all I can say on the matter! There is plenty of humour with a nice balance of tension and danger too, a perfect blend for this cozy read that will definitely get a relisten! Diane has each character's voice down perfectly, and makes it such a great listen.

Historia
Rapunzel can throw a knife better than any man. She paints beautiful flowering vines on the walls of her plaster houses. She sings so sweetly, she can coax even a beast to sleep. But there are two things she is afraid her mother might never allow her to do: learn to read and marry. Fiercely devoted to Rapunzel, her mother is suspicious of every man who so much as looks at her daughter and warns her that no man can be trusted.

Superb!
Revisado: 03-09-19
An awesome retelling of Rapunzel! Okay so you want a bit more information than that. I adore fairytales and have yet to find a retelling which I didn't like. This one reminds me very fondly of other fantasy reads, especially the Valdemar series by Mercedes Lackey which doesn't have anything to do with fairytales, but it feels the same, if that makes sense. Rapunzel is sweet, kind, talented in carious crafts and totally ruled by her mother. It was horrid watching her leave a place she enjoyed, and have her mother force her to be antisocial.
I cheered as Rapunzel's rebellion grew, and wailed when Things Happened which seemingly set her further from her Happy Ever After. She works so hard to flee her crazy mother, managing to find hope when there is barely any. You will have to read it to find out what happens at the end, but rest assured you will be planning many rereads just as I am! I've added more of Melanie's books to my wishlist as she is a new to me author who I've fallen in love with!

Sweet romance
Revisado: 02-03-17
Where does Melinda and the Wild West rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
It rates really high because it's such a sweet tale, Melinda has heaps of spunk, she cares for her students yet is reluctant to be cared for when the need arises.
What other book might you compare Melinda and the Wild West to and why?
I can't think of a specific title, but pretty much any of the Amish fiction novels I read, simply because there are good morals, lots of twists, and faith is important to the story.
What about Joanna Riley’s performance did you like?
Her character voices were spot on, and it was an easy listen.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Caring teacher gives all and unexpectedly finds love.
Any additional comments?

Historia
Julie Anderson feels a need to find the man she fell deeply in love with during her youth. When Julie went off to college to become a lawyer, she lost contact with her high school sweetheart. She now wants to know what became of Joey, and why he stopped writing to her. This is an assignment that intrigues Amelia. The thought of finding a long-lost love seems quite romantic.

Would you listen to Her Lost Love again? Why?
Absolutely!
What did you like best about this story?
Hunting down someone's lost love is a journey of love for Amelia. She is still in the early stages of love with her business partner Rick, and the uncertainties she has for commitment are explored as the mystery unfolds. It felt like the stakes were lowered a little in favour for exploring the romance between the detectives...at least that's what I thought until the end which had me holding my breath then laughing at the outcome. I prefer action to romance, but understand that Amelia and Rick are still getting to know each other and a lot of readers like romance. Even knowimg what I do from finishing the book, there's no doubt that Amelia is holding a lot of information about her upbringing which I hope will be divulged over the next few books (I know this series is long-yippee!).
What about Diane Lehman’s performance did you like?
Diane does perfect narration for both Amelia, Rick, and other characters. I think she's narrated previous books, and definitely a firm favourite with me.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes! It's a shame I have to do things like eat and other life stuff.
Any additional comments?
I love seeing her confidence as a detective grow, especially when it comes to dealing with secret service workers, who had me intrigued and made me laugh a lot. Together Amelia and Rick have to constantly try and outsmart them so they can proceed with their case. Admittedly it's probably my least favourite book in the series, but as you can see from the grade I still really enjoyed it. I love the familiarity of Rick and Amelia, love knowin that danger will eventually come, that there will be plot twists I guessed both correctly and incorrectly. It is overall a feel good read, one which I'm looking forward to returning to some day.

Great bedtime story bundle!
Revisado: 05-31-16
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Absolutely! Here are several reassuring tales for anxious sleepers. I thought there were only 2 stories so was happily surprised when I heard more being told. They really address the worries both children and adults have about the dark, including fear of shadows, the wind, thunder, and the bizarre ability to deny being tired at bedtime.
What did you like best about this story?
I loved listening to the engrossing tales. The narrator Heidi Allred did all the sounds and used different voices for each character. The way the mother came up with suggestions for everything was impressive, and ones I'll try and remember if I need them later. I can't think of a night fear which wasn't covered in these short yet fun listens that can quite easily. These can easily be listened to one each night rather than all in one go. Unfortunately even knowing shadows are just shadows, having an imaginative mind can make nighttime a tricky situation, especially when wakimg from a nightmare, and Linda's book goes a long way to making sleep much easier for everyone.
Which scene was your favorite?
All of them!
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It made me smile at how soothing it is.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
The amount of leads and various mishaps provided lots of excitement, it goes to show you don't need to wave a gun around to be threatening. There are many high peril moments, though some are simple misunderstandings. I'm already excited about book #4!
What did you like best about this story?
Everything!
Which character – as performed by Diane Lehman – was your favorite?
Nick and Amelia traipse around Mexico, taking me to a strange and wonderful land. Poor Amelia suffers on the food front: while I felt sorry for her mishaps I was openly smiling as those scenes unfolded, something Rick had to avoid doing so as not to upset her. Ditto some of the wildlife who were extremely attracted to Amelia, but she was able to use some of the animals to halt the progress of their enemy who was determined to do everything in their power to make the detective duo late in their current case.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I know the story's about a detective couple, but the moments of sheer joy, the compassion the duo have for each other and young children, plus their desire to see good triumph no matter how high the cost feels like a Nancy Drew trait, a young sleuth who I adored reading about when I was younger (& now too!)

A light, funny cozy mystery
Revisado: 02-28-16
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Shamrock Case?
I still giggle at the thought of the majorly cranky receptionist - Amelia certainly isn't always a people person!! I did see why she objected so strongly to certain things but I'd have just done as I was asked. Guess that was my favourite part of the book, but I love all of it and am looking forward to relistening to this fun tale.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
It's a read I'll listen to again and again when I need something light hearted but want lots of mystery and a bit of peril.
Any additional comments?
I think it's awesome that Amelia gets to travel so widely for her job, although I'm certain now Rick won't let her go anywhere without him, as she accidentally gets into major peril more than once. Their sweet relationship finally came together once Amelia worked through some personal issues, and it hardly affected their job at all. If anything because they trusted each other they were stronger because of being together.
That aside let's get to the exciting part. I haven't been to Ireland, so getting to explore it with Amelia from my sofa was fun. The descriptions made it easy to imagine the scenery they explored while delving into family history and reunited a family who grew apart through life events out of their control (mostly, although some of the reasons involve certain members losing control).

Revisado: 10-24-15
Would you listen to The Bali Mystery again? Why?
There are many tense moments in the story, especially towards the end. There's plenty of humour between Amelia and Rick, especially when they don't agree with each other. ", "type" : "Overall", "question" : "Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
The case they are on is extremely bizarre, with Amelia and Rick being trailed. I had no idea what the truth of the matter was, and was surprised when explanations finally came. I enjoyed learning a bit more about Bali, which I've heard about from a friend so I wasn't completely taken aback by how things work on Bali (slowly, sometimes hurried along with money). I truly am looking forward to the next book, and this is one to reread, or in my case relisten!
Which scene was your favorite?
Amelia is the one who made me laugh, her attitude towards those trailing them is hilarious, her don't-care attitude made her tale a joy to listen to. The funniest part was when Amelia walked right up to those following her and made a joke. They weren't amused but I was!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Most definitely! Sadly household chores don't do themselves.
