Historia
Jonathan Swift is best remembered today as the author of Gulliver’s Travels, the satiric fantasy that quickly became a classic and has remained in print for nearly three centuries. Yet Swift also wrote many other influential works, was a major political and religious figure in his time, and became a national hero, beloved for his fierce protest against English exploitation of his native Ireland. What is really known today about the enigmatic man behind these accomplishments? Can the facts of his life be separated from the fictions?

Could not stop listening.

I am always interested in non-fiction and biographical stories. This was a surprise to learn about!
Anyone interested in biographical stories will find this a twist in what you might think you know about Mr Swift. The story was a pleasure to listen to because of the narrator, who did an excellent job!

Having entertained the idea for years, and even offered a few questionable opportunities ("It's a piece of cake! Just do four hours of interviews, find someone else to write it, put your face on the cover, and voila!") I have decided to tell these stories just as I have always done, in my own voice.

Unexpected

Did not realize who David Grohl was until I listened to book. I am old, kinda. But, very eclectic when it comes to music. Plus, I live in the Bellevue, Washington! Aware of the Grunge music yet, too busy to be involved like I use to be. Hell, I even liked Eminem. My oldest daughter (42) was young when we were in the car when Aerosmith came on the radio. “Oh mom! This is a great new group!”
I started laughing so hard! She was puzzled and said they do a song with D.M.C.! I had heard it but, laughed even harder. The amount of older music that others were remastering?
I told yeah, I use to listen to them when I was 12 and later dated a roadie. She didn’t know what roadie was. Lol. “No, they just started playing!”
She was crushed when I told her how old they were. She was only 10.
I liked the review and sample and after reading a few chapters called my daughter who was totally into Grunge, so she says. And said I was reading this biography of David Grohl would you like me to send it? “Nah, that’s okay.” She has no idea who he is! I still haven’t told her.
It is a great book and David does a wonderful job narrating. I was almost surprised at his maturity compared to musicians of my time. I didn’t expect it. Of course, most Musicians that last are those that start out as wanting to be Biologists, Accountants, Physicists, Teachers, etc. These are the groups that last the longest or are still around. He had me hooked by the second page. Now, I need to explain to my daughter, who he is. Lol!!!
