Historia
A United States minister, senator, president, and congressman in turn, John Quincy Adams was one of the most prevalent and dedicated Americans in history. Drawing from Adams' 70-year diary, author Paul Nagel probes deeply into the psyche of this cantankerous, misanthropic, erudite, hardworking son of a former president whose remarkable career spanned so many offices.

Tedious President
Revisado: 05-18-12
Is there anything you would change about this book?
The depth of the research. Too limited to the diaries, and unbalanced.
What could Paul C. Nagel have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Read David Mccullough John Adams.
Which character – as performed by Jeff Riggenbach – was your favorite?
There was more than one character?
Could you see John Quincy Adams being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
No.
Any additional comments?
I agree with other reviews that this book lacks scholarship. The author draws conclusions regarding Adams that appear to be difficult transitions. It seemed clear to me that JQA was ADHD. I would have enjoyed more color to the narrative, some context. The limited exposure to the Adams presidency in the book was because Adams chose not to write much about it, not because there is a lack of record.

Historia
McCullough's John Adams has the sweep and vitality of a great novel. This is history on a grand scale, an audiobook about politics, war, and social issues, but also about human nature, love, religious faith, virtue, ambition, friendship, and betrayal, and the far-reaching consequences of noble ideas. Above all, it is an enthralling, often surprising story of one of the most important and fascinating Americans who ever lived.

The Humanity of John Adams
Revisado: 02-24-12
If you could sum up John Adams in three words, what would they be?
Courageous, patriotic, integrity
What was one of the most memorable moments of John Adams?
I would say the period leading up to the Declaration.
What does Nelson Runger bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The opportunity to listen and read along. I found it quite enjoyable to take the paper copy and note passages that I thought were particularly compelling.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
A man for his time, and for all time.
Any additional comments?
Everything McCullough puts his pen to becomes a masterpiece.

Heralded as an instant classic of fantasy literature, Maguire has written a wonderfully imaginative retelling of The Wizard of Oz told from the Wicked Witch's point of view. More than just a fairy tale for adults, Wicked is a meditation on the nature of good and evil.

What made the experience of listening to Wicked the most enjoyable?
The narrative is rich and written for the well-read aficionado.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Has to be Fabula. Her life story is liberal, and empathetic.
What about John McDonough’s performance did you like?
I have heard him read many books. His sonorous rendition and shift in voice for characters is terrific.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Not particularly. These are not characters that are especially attractive.
Any additional comments?

Revisado: 12-19-11
Is there anything you would change about this book?
Less focus on the pubescence thoughts of a teenage girl.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
The genetics of vampire slayers.
What about Jessica Almasy’s performance did you like?
She took on the voice of the girl quite naturally.
Do you think You Are So Undead to Me needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
No. This genre has been beaten to death. Sorry.
Any additional comments?
I am sure there is a market for this kind of thing. My 12 year old son seemed to like it.

Historia
The year is 1977 and Adrian is nine. He lives with his Gran and his uncle Rory; his best friend is Clinton Tull. He loves to draw and he wants a dog; he's afraid of quicksand, shopping centres, and self-combustion. Adrian watches his suburban world, but there is much he cannot understand. He does not for instance, know why three neighborhood children might set out to buy ice-cream and never come back home.

Keep your children close at hand
Revisado: 12-19-11
Would you listen to Of A Boy again? Why?
Not likely. While the story read much like a made for television
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
Written with a detail for realism, the outcome was unsatisfactory. I needed someone in this story to root for.
What about Humphrey Bower’s performance did you like?
The inflection; the tension in the voice. This was well-done.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The tenuous nature of childhood attachments to things, and to people.
Any additional comments?
I was depressed for a week.

Historia
For two thousand years, cadavers have been involved in science's boldest strides and weirdest undertakings. They've tested France's first guillotines, ridden the NASA Space Shuttle, been crucified in a Parisian laboratory to test the authenticity of the Shroud of Turin, and helped solve the mystery of TWA Flight 800. For every new surgical procedure, from heart transplants to gender reassignment surgery, cadavers have been there alongside surgeons, making history in their quiet way.

Not for the faint of heart or stomach.
Revisado: 12-19-11
What did you love best about Stiff?
I enjoyed the nonchalance; I thought the author did an excellent job taking the edge off a subject that we all face but really don't want to think about.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Stiff?
I never thought about composting as an alternative to more traditional choices.
Which scene was your favorite?
The closing scene where the author lays out her personal choices. After what she went through, her opinion was valuable.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
This will never happen.
