Historia
A prison doctor injects a condemned serial killer with a formula designed to keep his consciousness awake while his body rots in the grave. But all drugs have unforeseen side-effects. Before he can be buried, the killer wakes up. Hungry. Infected. Contagious. This is the way the world ends. Not with a bang… but a bite.

Less than I expected from Mayberry
Revisado: 08-14-22
This is a sloppy written story. Like someone writing about what is completely out of their element. Not at all when I expected from Mayberry.
Narrator changes voices and even his own accent throughout the story. Sounds more like a middle-aged hippie speaking at a poetry slam.
I had a tough time finishing this one.

Historia
In Dead Man's Walk, Gus and Call are not yet 20, young men coming of age in the days when Texas was still an independent republic. Enlisting as Texas Rangers under a land pirate who wants to seize Santa Fe from the Mexicans, Gus and Call experience their first great adventure in the barren great plains landscape, in which arbitrary violence is the rule -- whether from nature, or from the Indians whose territory they must cross in order to reach New Mexico.<

Lazy writing
Revisado: 11-17-19
I really hesitate to write this review, I’m trying to discern if I’m being overly critical.
I don’t know why this book receives such high marks. About 2/3 of the way through the story becomes so lazily written that it is not worthy of association with lonesome dove.
To top it off, the narrator sounds like a bad parody of former President George Bush.
Disappointed.

Historia
Best-selling author Bryan Burrough recently made a shocking discovery: The small town of Temple, Texas, where he had grown up, had harbored a dark secret. One of his high school classmates, Danny Corwin, was a vicious serial killer. In this chilling tale, Burrough raises important questions of whether serial killers can be recognized before they kill or rehabilitated after they do. It is also a story of Texas politics and power that led the good citizens of the town of Temple to enable a demon who was their worst nightmare.

Unable to finish this one
Revisado: 12-17-17
The voices were awful. I could barely understand what was happening at times.
I suppose it doesn’t help that i don’t know this story. Maybe if i had read it already i could follow along?
Makes me wonder about all the five star reviews, are they talking about the same book i was experiencing?

Historia
Taoism teaches the basic principles of living a long and healthy life. The Taoist principles help us understand the inseparable nature of the self and the nature of the cosmos, to participate in the natural flow of events. To gain knowledge about Taoism is the cultivation of a thought process of growth, self-exploration, and transformation and to link our inner self with the surrounding world. This is the way to engage ourselves in the realm of the Tao. What are the implications of Taoism in our daily lives?

Some contradictions, interesting interpretations
Revisado: 02-05-17
The author was contrasting taoism with buddhism, stated something like buddhism attempts to disregard the natural world? This is the first time I've heard anything like that.
Also stated several times that the taoist does not strive for achievements, yet describes how the taoist knows that to change the world he must first change himself. A few other contradictions like this but you get the idea.
Reads like english wasn't the authors first language...
