Israel. The small strip of arid land is 5,700 miles away but remains a hot-button issue and a thorny topic of debate. But while everyone seems to have a strong opinion about Israel, how many people actually know the facts? Here to fill in the information gap is Israeli American Noa Tishby.

I learned so much from this book!
Revisado: 09-11-24
I didn’t realize how much I didn’t know about Israel until I started listening to Noa Tishby. And I really appreciate how hard she worked to research and confirm the information she presents. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to understand what is arguably the most complicated part of the world.

Earth is not well. The promise of starting life anew somewhere far, far away—no climate change, no war, no Twitter—beckons, and settling the stars finally seems within our grasp. Or is it? Critically acclaimed, bestselling authors Kelly and Zach Weinersmith set out to write the essential guide to a glorious future of space settlements, but after years of research, they aren’t so sure it’s a good idea.

Funny, informative, scary, and hopeful!
Revisado: 08-14-24
First of all, I love the narrator. She did a fantastic job. I was laughing out loud on a regular basis. And the topic was absolutely fascinating and I totally agree with the authors’ final conclusion. Let’s hope the right people read this book and let’s slow things down! We can still shoot for the stars, but take it slow. Delightful overall!

Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

I love this book. Even though at times I was able to predict what was coming, there were other times I was not. It engaged me from beginning to end. And the wonderful narration certainly contributed to that! I finished it feeling sad that it was over. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves sci-fi!

We face a potent intersection of crises: ecological destruction, rising inequality, racial injustice, and the lasting impacts of a devastating pandemic. The situation is beyond urgent. To face these challenges, we need to find ways to strengthen our clarity, compassion, and courage to act. Beloved Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh is blazingly clear: There’s one thing we all have the power to change, which can make all the difference, and that is our mind.

Amazing book especially needed for our time
Revisado: 02-01-22
There is so much wisdom in this one book! I know I’ll be reading it over and over again and listening to it over and over again (I bought the hardcopy after I started listening to the audible book). I wish every human on the planet would listen to it, as that would be one relatively simple way to make this a better world. I highly recommend it to anyone who reads this review.

Historia
Some people insist that culture is strictly a human feat. What are they afraid of? This book looks into three cultures of other-than-human beings in some of Earth's remaining wild places. It shows how if you're a sperm whale, a scarlet macaw, or a chimpanzee, you too experience your life with the understanding that you are an individual in a particular community. You too are who you are not by genes alone; your culture is a second form of inheritance. And your culture, too, changes and evolves.

Historia
Somewhere out beyond the edge of the universe there is a library that contains an infinite number of books, each one the story of another reality. One tells the story of your life as it is, along with another book for the other life you could have lived if you had made a different choice at any point in your life. While we all wonder how our lives might have been, what if you had the chance to go to the library and see for yourself? Would any of these other lives truly be better? In The Midnight Library, Nora Seed finds herself faced with this decision.

Revisado: 09-26-20
It is my new bible. I am 62 years old and it has set me on the path of thinking deeply about how I want to spend my remaining time on this Earth. Thanks to you Dr. Kimmerer for sharing your knowledge, experience and wisdom with the world. May the people listen before it’s too late for humanity and the beings we will take with us if/when we are gone.
