This is a fascinating story about school bullying gone bad. Wonderful sympathetic characters are well developed with a great plot that takes unexpected turns. anybody who wants to get in to the head of the bully and the bullied should read this book. "19 minutes" demontrates how school, parents, and system in general just don't deal well with victims of bullying. As usual, this author likes to put these sensitive subjects out there and ask lots of "what ifs". You can't help but be self reflective after reading this. A real thumbs up.

a uniue picture of pakistan and afganistan

Greg Mortensen is an incredible person. Such dedication and perseverance is hard to imagine. I hope the book brings his cause to light and that he succeeds. The notion that you can bring peace and stability to a country by educating its young, particularly the girls, is inspiring. this is the sort of movement we should all be behind.

Wow, what a tale. I just wished it went on and told a bit about his life afterwards. If you want to get an idea how many wars are waged, this is the book to read. You realize just how insular your life is. The author talks of his family and then the over night change that puts him on the run and finally in the hands of adults who drug, torture, and force him to be a killing machine. The efforts of relief agencies dedicated to rehabilitating these kids was also impressive. It's all so totally eye opening!

greed in detail

I had a hard time slogging through this. You get the gist really early that folks are playing with fire and not playing by the rules. The author really tries to go into painful detail. Unfortunately,this is only likely to be appreciated by someone who is familiar with the jargon of high level economics. The narrator does an admirable job of delivering a fairly dry narrative.

fun with alternate worlds

This is a great series and well done from the audio standpoint. There is quite a cast of characters and all are very good, conveying the characters well. I find the trilogy not only entertaining but thought provoking. Worldly knowledge, one's soul, all are part of this most interesting journey taken by a young girl who you can't help but admire.

Seldom have I had so much fun learning history this way. You get a really great idea of how France, England, and Scotland were interacting in the 18th century. Lots of twists and turns especially with the time travel element. One of the best narrators ever!

star trek meets the big bang meets monty python

It's amusing for awhile and then it gets kind of pointless. You can't but see that it is a clever book but the level of absurdity you have to be deluged with takes tolerance. The narrator is quite good.

Just when you thought you couldn't think of more to add to the story, the story of Claire and Jaime takes a few more turns. The narrator for this book is outstanding and I hope that she does the whole series (6 books). These books are so rich in detail that an abridged version is unthinkable. Highly recommended for those that want to do the whole series of the "outlander".
