Historia
A serial kidnapper is on the loose in a small town in Maine, targeting wealthy women and demanding a huge ransom in bitcoin for their safe return. When his latest victim’s husband claims that he can’t come up with the money, the word “deadline” takes on a disturbingly literal meaning. The local police are out of their depth, but Colter Shaw takes the lead in the investigation. Soon, he’s using his survivalist instincts to uncover clues and pursue suspects, putting his own life on the line to catch the would-be killer before the countdown hits zero.

Great new story
Revisado: 12-06-22
From the very beginning I knew this was going to be a compelling story. It’s fast paced, action immediately drew me in not just because of the action. I feel like the Author drops hints throughout and vividly paints the characters so I couldn’t stop listening. Even as I rushed to see if my assumption was right, the skillful conclusion, despite the time I spent listening, was a real reveal for me.
I’ll enjoy this tale again now that I enjoyed it so much. Mr. Deaver always “gets” to me. I’ve read everything he’s given to us at least twice. The journey is so enjoyable, it needs to be savored.

Compelling story
Revisado: 11-22-22
This is one of the best Elvis Cole stories I’ve ever heard. The plot was richly sprinkled with human struggles; the twists and turns were fascinating throughout the story telling. I would highly recommend this book.

Revisado: 11-01-21
I intend to reread this as soon as I finish this review. The story was so beautifully woven from so many levels of awareness, I was captivated and non stop binged the entire book. This was such an interesting study about so many important issues converging to keep this compelling me to do it again for the sheer artistry.
No spoilers. Just my reaction to feeling exuberant for the lovely gift this tale was to read.

Can’t wait to read the next in this series!
Revisado: 07-02-19
I’ve recently learned to begin any of Brian Freeman’s novels - only when my bills are paid; I’ve completed my tasks; and, I’m ready to allow uninterrupted listening.
The clever writing; intriguing plot twists; and edge of the seat suspense are my rewards - like a trip to the beach or to a mountain retreat, and I’ve actually listened to several of his audio books from start to finish in one session, as my dirty dishes turn into a science experiment and the dust bunnies begin to take on the properties of tumbleweeds!
Lesson learned. For those who drink, I imagine Mr. Freeman’s writing is like a single malt whiskey. His stories intoxicate 😊

Lies, deceptions, and secrets: Oh My!
Revisado: 06-24-19
Mr. Brian Freeman - I’m the newest member of your fan club! Your character development and storytelling found the perfect vehicle for an audiobook in January LaVoy. I enjoyed this story immensely, and have talked to everyone I know, about your storytelling.
My guilty confession is, I could not stop listening and was compelled by the complex characters and the story development that I listened (start to finish) in the course of a 24 hour period.
Kudos on this tale! I can’t wait for your next story!

Now, seven months after a job that went south and landed him in jail, Deese has skipped out on bail, and the US Marshals come looking for him. They don't much care about a low-level guy - it's his boss they want - but Deese might be their best chance to bring down the whole operation. Then, they step onto a dirt trail behind Deese's rural Louisiana cabin and find a jungle full of graves.

Revisado: 04-28-19
I love the well defined characters who are flawed. This entire series had me hooked from the first Prey book I read years ago.
I would recommend John Sanford to anyone who really wants the intellectual challenge of reading this series attempting to guess the way all the different threads of story development come together to create an experience.

Historia
Joe Pickett is the new game warden in Twelve Sleep, Wyoming, a town where nearly everyone hunts and the game warden—especially one like Joe who won't take bribes or look the other way—is far from popular. When he finds a local hunting outfitter dead, splayed out on the woodpile behind his state-owned home, he takes it personally. There had to be a reason that the outfitter, with whom he's had run-ins before, chose his backyard, his woodpile to die in.

Revisado: 03-27-19
I’ve been a huge fan of John Sandford books for years because they are so well researched and written. I listened to this entire book within a 24 hour period because the story was so well constructed, I couldn’t stop until the book ended. Now, I’m on the trail of reading anything he’s written that I haven’t yet read👍🏼
