Historia
Known as the “Wizard of the Kremlin,” the enigmatic Vadim Baranov was a TV producer before becoming a political advisor to Putin, aka “The Czar.” After his resignation from this position, legends about him multiply, with no one able to distinguish truth from fiction. Until one night, when he tells his story to the narrator of this book… He immerses us in the heart of the Russian state, where sycophants and oligarchs have been engaging in open warfare, and where Vadim, now the regime’s main spin doctor, turns an entire country into an avant-garde political stage.

The best book I read this year.
Revisado: 12-31-23
Also, amazing narration. Don't expect a plot, it's a reflection, philosophical, poetic, insightful and beautiful. I am definitely going to read it on kindle as well and I rarely read a book twice.

Historia
In the aftermath of Ireland's financial collapse, dangerous tensions surface in an Irish town. As violence flares, the characters face a battle between public persona and inner desires. Through a chorus of unique voices, each struggling to tell their own kind of truth, a single authentic tale unfolds. The Spinning Heart speaks for contemporary Ireland like no other novel. Wry, vulnerable, all-too human, it captures the language and spirit of rural Ireland and with uncanny perception articulates the words and thoughts of a generation.

I should have read the book
Revisado: 11-16-23
I would probably have enjoyed this book a lot more had I read the physical book instead of the audible version. The narrator, although has a nice voice, puts you to sleep... no color, no intonation, very monotonous.... The book itself is beautifully written and I can't but feel that I missed out on half of it because of the narration.

Great book from a great author. Always so well written. I always love the issues he raises in his books and the gray areas his characters live in. Nothing in life is black and white.

Historia
Shortly after Clare arrives in Havana, Cuba, to attend the annual Festival of New Latin American Cinema, she finds her husband, Richard, standing outside a museum. He’s wearing a white linen suit she’s never seen before, and he’s supposed to be dead. Grief-stricken and baffled, Clare tails Richard, a horror film scholar, through the newly tourist-filled streets of Havana, clocking his every move. As the distinction between reality and fantasy blurs, Clare finds grounding in memories of her childhood in Florida and of her marriage to Richard.

Horrible narration
Revisado: 10-07-23
I don't think they could have chosen a more annoying narrator for this book... the sing-songy voice totally distracts from the book... I am going to have to return it and get it on kindle.

But success breeds enemies, and Nellie’s empire faces threats from without and within.

Very enjoyable
Revisado: 09-07-23
I am always looking for Kate Atkinson's new books. This one was good, too. Maybe not as good as the Jackson Brody novels or Life After Life, but still very good. I love her style, her sentences are brilliant and her unique sense of humor is always a bonus.

Fantastic story
Revisado: 09-04-23
I just noticed there are no reviews available for this book yet... It is a fantastic read... Dan Chaon can write... If you are like me and are very picky about the quality of the writing you will still like this book. The story is fascinating, the atmosphere is haunting and beautiful... secrets, relationships, loneliness, tragedy and heartbreak.... I am definitely reading Dan Chaon's other books as well.

Historia
The Ministry for the Future is a masterpiece of the imagination, using fictional eyewitness accounts to tell the story of how climate change will affect us all. Its setting is not a desolate, post-apocalyptic world, but a future that is almost upon us - and in which we might just overcome the extraordinary challenges we face.

Awful narration
Revisado: 07-06-23
This is the first book I have listened to with multiple narrators that was a disaster as to the narrators... I mean none of these people know how to read a story... Just buy it on Kindle... The story is very detailed and interesting, but don't expect some post-apocalyptic action thriller.... well written, thought provoking.

Really bad!!!!
Revisado: 06-27-23
I rarely write reviews. I am so angry how bad this was. I should have returned it after 5 minutes of listening. First of all the story drags out with details that only elongate the story, but don’t add anything to it. Repetitions, common places, clichés, cheesy dialogues. Awful. One person wrote if you like Colleen Hoover books it’s for you. I agree. She’s another one that isn’t worth the paper her books are written on. Not to mention, the characters are just bad. For a while good characters all of a sudden start acting like they have no gray matter in their skull. Kids narrating their own experiences as if they were adults. Things put in their mouths that no kid of that age could ever possibly think or say. And I haven’t even mentioned Brittany Pressley’s voice that is just unbearable. Her over dramatization and singing voice was literally why I didn’t want to finish listening to the book. If you can tell the difference between good literature and cheap trash, do yourself a favor and find another book. I hate it that it is so hard to find well written, smart and imaginary crime novels. This one is NOT one.

Historia
How do we love in a time of rage? How do we fix a broken world while not breaking ourselves? Valarie Kaur - renowned Sikh activist, filmmaker, and civil rights lawyer - describes revolutionary love as the call of our time, a radical, joyful practice that extends in three directions: to others, to our opponents, and to ourselves. It enjoins us to see no stranger but instead look at others and say: You are part of me I do not yet know. Starting from that place of wonder, the world begins to change.

Simply beautiful! And she narrates it wonderfully. Most authors do a horrible job about narrating their own words. Valarie is a master!
