Historia
Landon Gray, a skillful "ferry pilot" who delivers planes to customers has one final drop in Alabama before Christmas. But when an EMP causes the plane he’s in to crash on the remote, snow-covered mountains of North Carolina, he’s rescued by Beth "Bluebird" Sullivan, who claims to have lived off the grid since she was born. Beth brings him back to an isolated cabin to recover while waiting for her father to come back from the nearby town. When he doesn’t return, Beth grows increasingly worried while Landon struggles with being far from home.

Kept me listening, but I wouldn't recommend it
Revisado: 05-15-20
First, the narrator kind of sounded like a robot at times, which isn't in itself a terrible thing, but it was sometimes a little monotone. I also think he sometimes had trouble with some of the accents.
Second, there's no closure, like no explanation of why this EMP happened and what the purpose was. Was it a terrorist attack? Aliens? Or just a solar flare? And if that's the case, why is there like no end in sight?
This story was entertaining enough that it kept me listening to the end. But I don't think I'd recommend it.

I loved it... until the end... but it's still good
Revisado: 04-15-20
I really enjoyed this story... until the "twist." I didn't like the twist at the end, I feel like it was a little bit of a downer. But that's just me, I love paranormal & existential story lines. This was otherwise a well written story, very engaging, and narrated very well.

Historia
James Dommek, Jr., an Alaska Native writer and musician, sheds new light on a real-life mystery that pits Native American folklore against the US justice system. In the vast Alaskan Arctic, legend has it there once lived a mythic tribe—Iñukuns—that only existed in rumors and whispers. This changed forever when an actor-turned-fugitive, Teddy Kyle Smith, had an encounter that brought Iñukuns from myth to reality. Smith was an aspiring actor with a promising career until it all came quickly crashing down with a gunshot, a manhunt, bloodshed, and other frightful events.

Very interesting story told about and by natives
Revisado: 03-15-20
This is such an interesting story to hear about. I love that this is written and narrated by an Alaskan native, and therefore told in his own words and thoughts. The author/narrator is a great story teller, detailed and entertaining. I was also very impressed with how the subject of the story, Teddy Kyle Smith, and native beliefs and practices, seemed to be treated very respectfully and politely by everyone from law enforcement to the courts. This is not always the case, so it's always refreshing to hear a story that is. Great job to James Dommek, Jr.!

Enjoyed it, but kind of outdated
Revisado: 07-10-19
I read this book years ago and really enjoyed listening to it again. Because it's an older book, there's a lot of outdated references, especially when talking about computers and DNA testing, so that was a little hard to get through. And the narration had some awkwardly long pauses, to where I sometimes thought the book froze or something.

My least favorite Patterson book
Revisado: 05-12-19
This is, by far, my least favorite Patterson book. First, I figured out the end & the twist immediately, but I forced myself to keep listening, hoping there'd be something additional to make it more exciting... there wasn't. Second, I could not stand any/either narrator. The different voices sounded forced and the tones and weird inflections in the primary narrator's performance was annoying. I'm sorry to say it, I love James Patterson and I love his Alex Cross character, but hated this book.

I could not get past the 2nd chapter
Revisado: 04-16-19
I hate being super critical of other peoples' art, but I tried to listen to this book 3 times, and just can not get past the 2nd chapter. The narrator is monotonous and tedious to listen to, and it makes it so hard for me to pay attention to the actual words of the story. I've heard good things about this book, so I may try to find a hard copy, just to make sure if I can't get on board with the book itself as well.

Zachary Quinto - best known for his role as the Nimoy-approved Spock in the recent Star Trek reboot and the menacing, power-stealing serial killer, Sylar, in Heroes - brings his well-earned sci-fi credentials and simmering intensity to this audio-exclusive novella from master storyteller John Scalzi. One day, not long from now, it becomes almost impossible to murder anyone - 999 times out of a thousand, anyone who is intentionally killed comes back. How? We don't know.

Grear way to end main trilogy

It's a really good end to the main trilogy... but is it really the end? It still sets up future books nicely as well.
