Historia
Former elite operative Noah Wolf is drawn back into the shadowy world of espionage. Living a serene life with his family in the Florida Keys, Noah’s past resurfaces when he is called to rejoin the mysterious organization E & E. Relocating to the high-tech sanctuary of Kirtland, the situation quickly takes a dark turn when Noah embarks on a perilous mission against a network of assassins led by the enigmatic Henrik Shultz, known as Adrian: a man Noah thought he’d killed many years ago. But nothing is what it seems in the world of assassins.

My last one of the series...
Revisado: 12-31-24
My interest for this series has been waning for at least the last 4 books. Heavy handed plot devices, authors with a laughable understanding of martial arts, tactics and clandestine activities, and melodramatic verbiage that is amplified by the narrators smarmy reading.
this last book has me convinced that the authors replied heavily on open AI and/or GPTs to compete the book. there are so many hyperboles and unnecessary descriptions. This book especially feels like they asked AI to make a 40,000 word book into a proper novel at over 70,000 words.
I'm done, the series jumped the shark for me about 3-4 books ago.

Great books , it's always tough when a series switches narrators.

I love this series, Brian Hutchinson created some incredible character voices, Eric Burgher is good, but between the first few books of this series and and the Silencer series, I just got attached to Hutchinson's voice.

Historia
Every day without fail, Travis Devine puts on a cheap suit, grabs his faux-leather briefcase, and boards the 6:20 commuter train to Manhattan, where he works as an entry-level analyst at the city’s most prestigious investment firm. In the mornings, he gazes out the train window at the lavish homes of the uberwealthy, dreaming about joining their ranks. In the evenings, he listens to the fiscal news on his phone, already preparing for the next grueling day in the cutthroat realm of finance. Then one morning Devine’s tedious routine is shattered by an anonymous email: She is dead.

Great book and story
Revisado: 09-14-23
One thing that I loved a lot about this story is it didn't go nuts with the military jargon and gun/gear/martial arts "moves" fetishizing. the story was great, had twists and turns that weren't predictable, the performance was great and it had good characters. and... just enough gear talk to stay within genre, but not over the top.

Weak story, no character development.
Revisado: 07-05-22
I love Mark Greaney's gray man series, this book is not like those. it's also one that I could not keep listening to. I had to stop after about hour 3 to cleanse my ears with better stories in my library. I'm glad I didn't spend a credit on it.

Historia
Find your "critical 20%" and transform your time - and life - forever! The 80/20 principle - also known as the Pareto principle - is the well-verified observation that in business, economics, and life generally, about 80 percent of all results flow from a mere 20 percent of our efforts. In this thought-provoking and highly informative program, Richard Koch unveils the secrets to how this mysterious but practical principle actually works... how it is affecting your life right now... and how you can start using it to your advantage.

follow the 80/20 principle with this book

Long winded and opinion-based application of this principle. The author even mentions that most books are 80% fluff; this is one of them.

Story is blah and narrator not at all right for it
Revisado: 06-05-21
This is the genre of audiobooks I listen to; but this one falls flat. The story itself is pretty bad, characters that I don't care about, and plot that has some plausibility to it, with a bunch of stuff that makes it feel like the author is making up on the fly. this genre also has a sycophantic aspect to it with weapons and fighting, but the fighting info in this story is circa 1987 and does not represent a current knowledge of combat sports. the banter and dialogue in this book is often boring. the villain is not at all believable if you know anything about anatomy and physiology, even in folks who are contortionists.
The narrator: it's like the narrator is playing an actor, playing an ad executive I'm a film from the the 1950's. His tone and intonation detract from the story. this, combined with what I wrote above, makes for a story that made me quit. I kept going through chapter 5 only because the story is set where I grew up, but I had to stop.

Historia
Is bourbon the quintessential American liquor? Bourbon is not just alcohol - the amber-colored drink is deeply ingrained in American culture and tangled in American history. From the early days of raw corn liquor to the myriad distilleries that have proliferated around the country today, bourbon is a symbol of the United States. This course traces bourbon's entire history, from the 1700s, with Irish, Scottish, and French settlers setting up stills and making distilled spirits in the New World, through today's booming resurgence.

Not as much a history of bourbon
Revisado: 03-24-21
This course is more of an essay about distilling alcohol with historical implications than it is a strict history of bourbon. There is definitely a slant toward bourbon, and references to it's history, but I expect ed to know more about the origin, or at least the various origin stories, and an overview of the historical data on bourbon.
I did enjoy the course though and listened to it while drywalling. it even prompted my to pour a stiff glass of top shelf bourbon I had in the cabinet after.

Good story, bad performance.
Revisado: 02-28-21
I really like the Luke Stone series, the forging series was good but the narration suffered. It's like the books were ready Alan Alda and the accents were Alan Alda, doing Chinese or other east Asian individuals, doing middle warren accents. pretty much all accents or women sound breathy.
But, this is another Forging of story and it's a good one. sets up the full Luke Stone series well. luckily the full series is ready someone else.
