Historia
Are you struggling with attention problems, mood swings, food obsession, or depression? Whatever the issue, you have far more control over your thoughts, feelings, and behavior than you realize. Although medications may bring some relief, in Change Your Diet, Change Your Mind, Dr. Georgia Ede reveals that the most powerful way to change brain chemistry is with food, because that’s where brain chemicals come from in the first place. In this provocative, illuminating guide, Dr. Ede explains why nearly everything we think we know about brain-healthy diets is wrong.

Historia
Over the last two decades, there has been an inescapable rise of anger and aggression across our planet. Hate speech has become increasingly prevalent online, Western governments are turning towards authoritarianism and populism, and extremist groups are rising across both the left and the right ends of the political spectrum. Every day, it seems, we're hearing more angry voices and fearful opinions, we're seeing more threats and frightening news, and we're reacting faster and less rationally.

Historia
In The Anxious Generation, social psychologist Jonathan Haidt lays out the facts about the epidemic of teen mental illness that hit many countries at the same time. He then investigates the nature of childhood, including why children need play and independent exploration to mature into competent, thriving adults. Haidt shows how the “play-based childhood” began to decline in the 1980s, and how it was finally wiped out by the arrival of the “phone-based childhood” in the early 2010s.

As a person of faith I respect the authors ability to advocate for faith based beliefs and practices. I also respect and appreciate the authors ability of alternative practices in practical and ‘fun based’ parenting. Excellent read, the narrator is the only down side of this book, but was well done over all. 100% recommend

Historia
The culture of “safety” and its intolerance of opposing viewpoints has left many young people anxious and unprepared for adult life. Lukianoff and Haidt offer a comprehensive set of reforms that will strengthen young people and institutions, allowing us all to reap the benefits of diversity, including viewpoint diversity. This is a book for anyone who is confused by what’s happening on college campuses today, or has children, or is concerned about the growing inability of Americans to live and work and cooperate across party lines.

Very wise book. I took a month off all social media and wished to strengthen my understanding and perspective of the way social media can influence you. Very well written book, especially since my views and stances of things differ from the authors.

Historia
It’s 1984, and life has changed beyond recognition. Airstrip One, formerly known as Great Britain, is a place where Big Brother is always watching, and nobody can hide. Except, perhaps, for Winston Smith. Whilst working at the Ministry of Truth, rewriting history, he secretly dreams of freedom. And in a world where love and sex are forbidden, where it’s hard to distinguish between friend and foe, he meets Julia and O’Brien and vows to rebel.

The perspective change from the original
Revisado: 04-11-24
I really enjoyed this set up of the story even though it was much abridged from the original. I enjoyed all the music and sound effects. My biggest complaint was the twisting of Julia’s character from the original, she acted and behaved like a completely different person, that turned me off from giving this a 5 star review. Other than that it was a great listen and enjoyed the creativity behind this project.

Historia
Welcome to the age of behavioral addiction - an age in which half of the American population is addicted to at least one behavior. We obsess over our emails, Instagram likes, and Facebook feeds; we binge on TV episodes and YouTube videos; we work longer hours each year; and we spend an average of three hours each day using our smartphones. Half of us would rather suffer a broken bone than a broken phone, and Millennial kids spend so much time in front of screens that they struggle to interact with real, live humans.

I enjoyed the book and found it interesting. I recently decided to give up social media (FB, instagram, Snapchat) for a month and thought this book would help. Though is chalk full of interesting facts it didn’t exactly give significant tips to help. Great book though.

When Augusten is forced to examine himself, he finds himself in the worst trouble of all. Because when his thirty days are up, he has to return to his same drunken Manhattan life - and live it sober. Historia
Working with the full cooperation of the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, Steven Naifeh and Gregory White Smith have accessed a wealth of previously untapped materials. While drawing liberally from the artist's famously eloquent letters, they have also delved into hundreds of unpublished family correspondences, illuminating with poignancy the wanderings of Van Gogh's troubled, restless soul. Naifeh and Smith bring a crucial understanding to the larger-than-life mythology of this great artist.

Interesting
Revisado: 02-21-21
I thoroughly enjoyed this book considering I was inspired by Van Gogh to become an artist. The overall coverage was interesting and revealing. However I would have enjoyed the book and story a great deal more if the content would have stopped, just briefly, to disseminated his work in detail, with titles and and critiques, if not every single one of his work but for the most notable.

Historia
Winter is coming. Such is the stern motto of House Stark, the northernmost of the fiefdoms that owe allegiance to King Robert Baratheon in far-off King's Landing. There Eddard Stark of Winterfell rules in Robert's name. Far to the north, behind the towering Wall, lie savage Wildings and worse - unnatural things relegated to myth during the centuries-long summer, but proving all too real and all too deadly in the turning of the season. Yet a more immediate threat lurks to the south, where Jon Arryn, the Hand of the King, has died under mysterious circumstances....

Great story, somewhat dull narration...
Revisado: 09-11-17
I've listened to many audio books with great narration and with good storylines, as far as the listener is concerned, if you are like me, you my find this hard or difficult to adjust to, but once you get past the change in tone compared to other narrators, such as Steven Spacey and or Jim Dale, you'll find that the toned back narration is actually very well do
