Historia
On the evening of November 24, 1971, D. B. Cooper hijacked Flight 305—Portland to Seattle—with a fake bomb, collected a ransom of $200,000, and then parachuted from the rear of the plane, disappearing into the night...and into history. Fifty years later, Agent Pendergast takes on a bizarre and gruesome case: in the ghost-haunted city of Savannah, Georgia, bodies are found with no blood left in their veins—sowing panic and reviving whispered tales of the infamous Savannah Vampire.

This narrator …..
Revisado: 08-23-21
If Katherine Hepburn and Colonel Sanders had a daughter that constantly sounded like she was furious you’d ordered an eight piece box instead of a bucket - that’s how this narrator decided Constance Green should sound. Why? Who hear this audition was like “Thats IT! COLONEL HEPBURN. It makes the story- a little more of a sci fy push than usual for Pendergast and Coldmoon- seem ridiculous.

It starts out Ok, and then just kind of stays there and never really gets interesting. It wants to be Clive Barkers Books Of Blood but isn't as clever and the narrator only has two moods - terror and slapstick doofus.

Historia
Thomas Malone thought he'd seen it all during his 25 years in the Birmingham homicide division. But then they found the body of a woman suspended above the opening of the mineshaft known as the Vertical, blood dripping into the chasm below. At the bottom of that shaft, two clues - a typed manuscript and a business card, blank but for a name on the front and a single sentence on the back.

Narrated by Eeyore
Revisado: 04-28-20
Unfortunately the narration- where every character sounded dumpy and slow took too much away from the stories. A few were really great, especially Jonathan Maberry- as usual. But the final one by Laird Barron was too disjointed and bizarre and didn’t end it in a satisfying way. I’ve enjoyed Barron’s stuff in the past- especially the Imago Sequence, but this was too similar and not in a good way. Just odd threads that never seem to come together, especially when the rest of the authors really seemed to do a good job of contributing something unique, but still cohesive to the theme. Like he had a “look at me!” compulsion over adding to this…..and seriously, who picked the narrator…

A startling crime with dozens of victims. Appearing out of nowhere to horrify the quiet resort town of Sanibel Island, Florida, dozens of identical, ordinary-looking shoes float in on the tide and are washed up on the tropical beach—each one with a crudely severed human foot inside.

Cold Moon is now more interesting than Pendergast
Revisado: 02-13-20
First- I miss Rene Auberjonois, but the new narrator, Jefferson Mays does a really good job and the characters are still recognizable with the tone and infection he brings to the narration. That being said- the story is pretty stale and seems like rehash of a lot of past plots, just less interesting and exciting. Cold Moon is definitely becoming more interesting than Pendergast, who's oddities seem played out and less valuable next to Cold Moon's straight forward approach and keen insights.
Also, Constance, the most obnoxious and useless side kick ever continues to threaten and intimidate every ally for no good reason , and solves her own Scooby Doo Mystery with a haunted house.

Historia
In February 1959, a group of nine experienced hikers in the Russian Ural Mountains died mysteriously on an elevation known as Dead Mountain. Eerie aspects of the incident—unexplained violent injuries, signs that they cut open and fled the tent without proper clothing or shoes, a strange final photograph taken by one of the hikers, and elevated levels of radiation found on some of their clothes—have led to decades of speculation over what really happened.

Should have invested in a narrator
Revisado: 09-30-19
It’s a fascinating and well researched story- it’s incredible how much the author was able to research in person. I wish he had invested in a narrator. He reads it himself and it’s like he’s reading a grocery list- it’s awful.

Revisado: 11-07-18
It's not Dick Hill! When Reacher says "Outstanding" - it's just not the same! Really, Scott Brick is fine- but Dick Hill just made the character his and it's so hard not to miss that perfect tone he had for Reacher.

It's like listening to an episode of Scooby Doo
Revisado: 04-08-16
Would you try another book from James Hankins and/or John Rubinstein?
Probably not.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
Everything- absolutly everything- is spelled out/spoon fed to the reader. You don't have to think about it or draw any conclusions of your own.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
I'm pretty sure this guy narrates cartoons, or at least entertains kids in his family. I'm pretty sure I heard The Comic Book Guy from the The Simpsons at least once.
Was Brothers and Bones worth the listening time?
I guess. I didn't ditch it half way- but it didn't do much for me.
Any additional comments?
It's not terrible- but I don't think I'd go for anything by this author or narrator again.

Good mystery - different envirment
Revisado: 01-11-16
Would you listen to The Enemy again? Why?
No- not that kind of story- it's a murder mystery but focuses on the armed services so it differs a bit from your standard procedural.
What other book might you compare The Enemy to and why?
Harry Bosch, Lincoln Lawyer- similar mystery story but takes place in the armed services.
What about Dick Hill’s performance did you like?
There's never any confusion about what character is talking, the female voices are not just a high whisper and he keeps the pace very well.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes- it moves at a good pace and you want to know how it's all going to work out.

Historia
When Robin Ellacott opens an unexpected delivery, she is horrified to discover that it contains a woman's severed leg. Her boss, private detective Cormoran Strike, is less surprised but just as alarmed. He suspects that four people from his past could be responsible - and any one of them is capable of sustained and unspeakable brutality. With the police focusing on the one suspect Strike has essentially ruled out, he and Robin take matters into their own hands and delve into the dark and twisted worlds of the other three men.

Another great installment.
Revisado: 11-08-15
If you could sum up Career of Evil in three words, what would they be?
Entertaining Interesting Fun
What did you like best about this story?
The narrator really makes the story. He differentiates between so many accents and characters- and you always know who's talking. He's just outstanding.
Which scene was your favorite?
Any scene where the narrator was working multiple accents at the same time.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Not that kind of story.
Any additional comments?
The only thing I didn't enjoy was the underlying romantic issue between the two main characters. It's too much at times and it gets annoying.
