Historia
Two days before Christmas 1996, the broken, battered body of Sophie Toscan du Plantier was found outside her vacation home in West Cork, a serene region on Ireland’s idyllic southern coast. Decades later, no one has been charged with the murder, but the aggrieved inhabitants of West Cork are convinced they know who did it - and he still lives among them.

What did you like about this audiobook?
I liked everything. There was character development and the producers were able to relay what these peoples devolpment over 40 years had been. All the drama and life that has gone on since the 70's in a very understandable way.
How has the book increased your interest in the subject matter?
I didn't read the print
book. The audio book has made me think about how difficult and nuanced human beings are. Why did Ian stay? Innocent or quilty, why stay? It made me think about the secrets within a society. What we allow and how we judge and how some are hypocritical. They thought him guilty of murdering a woman but did nothing to help his poor battered wife, who he could have easily murdered with his abuse. The audio book was very
engaging and kept you guessing.
The information is told in a very straight out
fashion.
I am more interested now in reading up about the community and the French laws mentioned at the end of the book.
Does the author present information in a way that is interesting and insightful, and if so, how does he achieve this?
Yes, the authors do. A true sense of the surroundings. The scene of the crime, the accused party's voice, the
neighbors and people
who were around then.
Sounds in the background. And sadly, the victims sons pain in his voice, esp at the end. It is heart breaking.. You can close your eyes throughout this audiobook and almost
imagine the scenes.
What did you find wrong about the narrator's performance?
The only kind of irritating thing was the start of the chapters and the end of chapters. I preordered so it was all in 8+ hours. Hearing the credits over and over broke the flow a bit. Besides that the narrators were awesome! 5☆.
I will be honest and say, I had difficulty understanding the dialect of some of the Irish people and others in this Audible series. Adjusting the volume and speed helped a bit.
Do you have any additional comments?
This audio series totally draws you in. The accused is totally annoying and narcisstic, the police (guards)
corrupt, and wow that crime scene! Very interesting how it ends and as it remains unsolved, your mind is free to wonder just which of the characters in this series besides Ian, or maybe even with Ian could have been the one to take her life. Or, maybe none of them are guilty at all. I hope Audible gets more content like this (and by the same producers, and soon!)

Historia
Wendy Lower's stunning account of the role of German women on the Eastern Front - not only as plunderers and direct witnesses, but as actual killers - powerfully revises history. Many young nurses, teachers, secretaries, and wives saw the emerging Nazi empire as a kind of "Wild East" of opportunity, yet they could not have imagined what they would do there. Hitler's Furies will challenge our deepest beliefs using evidence hidden for seventy years: Women can be just as brutal as men.

Historia
George Orwell depicts a gray, totalitarian world dominated by Big Brother and its vast network of agents, including the Thought Police - a world in which news is manufactured according to the authorities' will and people live tepid lives by rote. Winston Smith, a hero with no heroic qualities, longs only for truth and decency. But living in a social system in which privacy does not exist and where those with unorthodox ideas are brainwashed or put to death, he knows there is no hope for him.

But even she didn't see this coming: her own brother arrested for the grisly murders of three beautiful young women. Extreme amount of cussing. Was good storyline.
Revisado: 01-30-17
I didn't think I would end up liking this book. But it got a lot better, actually it was pretty great story telling about halfway through. You'll have to make it through about 20 chapters of an extreme amount of needless cussing before that though, a slowish start but it really ended up great. Thankfully a great narrator and James Pattersons famous very short chapters.
