Historia
In the midst of World War II, James is training for the Royal Air Force, while going home to Yorkshire whenever possible to see his very pregnant wife, Helen. Musing on past adventures through the dales, visiting with old friends, and introducing scores of new and amusing characters—animal and human alike—Herriot enthralls with his uncanny ability to spin a most engaging and heartfelt yarn.

Good Story, Distracting Music
Revisado: 08-12-22
My grandmother and I have really enjoyed listening to the first two volumes in this series, which have been recently redone with Nicholas Ralph (who plays James Harriot in the new series). The narrator here, although older, is also good, but the intermittent music is both distracting and horrible! It comes in at odd times, and doesn’t fit with what is happening in the story. We’re debating about listening to the next book because it’s so bad. If there wasn’t the annoying music, I’d give this narrator a solid 4!

Historia
August 1940: As the Luftwaffe swarm over Liverpool, Shane Quinn decides to move his family back to the safety of Ireland. But his only child, the beautiful Dana, would rather stay and serve her country than flee to a foreign land. Determined to make it on her own, she joins the WAAF with newfound pals Patty and Lucy. There’s plenty of excitement to be had on a RAF station, even a chance or two at love.

Solid book, but caution!

This is a wonderful story, but careful if you are listening with (or near) as smart speaker- as one of the side characters is named "Alexa" lol. She has some nicknames and is often called "Lexi", but just be aware!
