Messy narrative
Revisado: 09-05-24
I had to stop listening. I gave it several hours but the more I listened the more aggravated I got with the story. I imagine it all works out in the end, but I just found it such a mess.

Historia
Liz Danger is a ghostwriter, trapped in her old hometown for the summer. Good thing she has Vince Cooper, her recurring one-night stand living down by the river in his old diner car, making her feel happy and safe and normal until September when she’ll be leaving again, although she’s starting to wonder if she really wants to.

Historia
Liz Danger has returned home after fifteen years to deliver a giant teddy bear for her mother’s birthday (color: Guilt Red) when a cop with a great ass picks her up for speeding, fixes the missing lug nuts on her back wheel, pulls her out of a ditch, doesn’t give her a ticket, and helps her avoid her family. This is a man with real potential. The rest of the day goes downhill, starting with her finding out that the only man she’s ever loved is getting married to Lavender Blue, the most beautiful woman in southern Ohio. Really, the best thing in her day is that cop with the lug nuts.

Historia
You are about to travel to Edgecombe St. Mary, a small village in the English countryside filled with rolling hills, thatched cottages, and a cast of characters both hilariously original and as familiar as the members of your own family. Among them is Major Ernest Pettigrew (retired), the unlikely hero of Helen Simonson's wondrous debut. Wry, courtly, opinionated, and completely endearing, Major Pettigrew is one of the most indelible characters in contemporary fiction, and from the very first page of this remarkable novel he will steal your heart.

An Utter Delight
Revisado: 07-19-21
I am so very happy I took a chance on this book during a Daily Deal. I was sad to come to the end and wanted to simply stay in this story with these characters for quite a while longer.

Historia
Another shockingly suspenseful installment in #1 New York Times best-selling author Karen Marie Moning's Fever series. Burned picks up right where the surprising conclusion of Iced left off, and will feature beloved characters Mac and Dani O'Malley as they embark on another high-octane adventure in the Fever world.

Disappointed
Revisado: 01-22-15
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I'd recommend it to anyone who is following the Fever series but not to anyone else.
Would you ever listen to anything by Karen Marie Moning again?
I'll come back for the next installment but I'm pretty sad about the mess that is Burned.
Have you listened to any of Phil Gigante and Natalie Ross ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Phil and Natalie are great. I'm always happy when they are the readers.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
NO
Any additional comments?
The reviewer who said that Burned was for all the Iced haters has it spot on. I was just SOOO disappointed in how this was handled. KMM is a much better writer than this and her plots are always solid and interesting - its a pity she felt compelled (I'm guessing) to write this story to appease the haters.
When I came to the end it felt like I was half way through an okay book that just suddenly stopped rather than ended. This was NOT a cliffhanger, just a sputter and die. KMM has made my head explode with her cliff hangers so I know she can do this.
I've listened to Iced four times since I got it a year ago. I'm not sure if I'll ever listen to Burned again.

If Mispronunciation Makes You Crazy
Revisado: 02-05-14
Would you be willing to try another one of Nellie Chalfant’s performances?
no
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
I always enjoy Stephanie Laurens stories
Any additional comments?
I still just can't believe that Nellie Chalfant didn't know how to pronounce SIGNIFICANT words in this book. If you're familiar with Stephanie Laurens books you'll know how many times the word TON is mentioned. Ton as in Bon Ton -- NOT as in TON of bricks. I like this story, but literally found myself cringing every 2 to 5 minutes because of a mispronounced word. Once in a book, maybe twice you'll hear something and think "huh?" but this goes way beyond. If that sort of thing interferes with your enjoyment please try another title.

Abandoned after 20 minutes
Revisado: 05-26-13
What disappointed you about Whiskey Beach?
The narrators voice was so appallingly bad my flesh crawled. I have never had this reaction to a narrator before. I've also never abandoned a book with NO intention of ever trying to listen again. Just could not get past the smug, effeminate and graceless voice and performance of the narrator.
Would you ever listen to anything by Nora Roberts again?
Of course, provided its a different narrator
How did the narrator detract from the book?
see comments above
Any additional comments?
truly a disappointment and a complete waste of a credit.
