Surviving Sibling Loss: The Invisible Thread That Connects Us Through Life and Death is the gold standard of grief books, helping not only people who are grieving but also their therapists, partners, and friends better support their loved ones. The chapters are deliberately short and full of easy-to-find resources, and the book can be listened to again and again. This structure aids those who are struggling, who fatigue and lose focus easily under the weight of their grief.

Relatable!

I haven’t listened/read to many books about loss, because it’s been so hard to find ones that talk about sibling loss. However, I will say that this is one that pulled from not only the author’s personal experience, but those of other siblings; which in turn made it relatable in such a broad way. It was a quick listen & it was helpful to get validation that things I have experienced, felt & desired over the past 5 years are normal.

Glad I found this! Sibling Suicide is not talked about enough.
Revisado: 10-13-24
The meat & potatoes of this book, is spot on. All the feelings about losing a sibling & the “I wish”/“what if’s” hit harder than other losses..I know, I’ve lost 4 other people in my life just to suicide. It’s hard to fully review or break down the book, because it is obviously an extremely personal story to be told.
With that being said, I was not a fan of the audiobook. I was expecting to feel some kind of overwhelming grief at some point, but I did not & I unfortunately contribute it to the narrator. Don’t get me wrong, they did a phenomenal job overall. I just wish that there was some feeling that the narrator also felt & understood what Wagner was writing.
I would 100% recommend the physical book to fellow sibling suicide loss survivors.

Historia
In early 2000, Adnan Syed was convicted and sentenced to life plus thirty years for the murder of his ex-girlfriend Hae Min Lee, a high school senior in Baltimore, Maryland. Syed has maintained his innocence, and Rabia Chaudry, a family friend, has always believed him. By 2013, after almost all appeals had been exhausted, Rabia contacted Sarah Koenig, a producer at This American Life, in hopes of finding a journalist who could shed light on Adnan’s story. In 2014, Koenig's investigation turned into Serial, a Peabody Award-winning podcast with more than 500 million international listeners.

Informative
Revisado: 11-04-23
Informative not only on the case & giving us an insight on how corrupt BPD was then, but also gave us a look into the Muslim faith, in which I found interesting. I had listened to Crime Junkies, Serial, Undisclosed & Truth & Justice. However, there were still points throughout the book that my jaw hung open.
