Historia
For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

at first I didn't like it because it was coming from loud white male perspective but as the chapters went on I found myself looking at areas of my life that could be improved from caring less and nodding along as he talked about emotional accountability. I read the audio book in the narrator did a great job at capturing the different accents and languages.

Historia
Always On the Way: Travel Stories of a Semi-Young Black Woman's Life Overseas While Trying to Maintain Her Sanity recounts the trials and triumphs of a youngish Texan living, working, and traveling in the far East. In 2014, Stacy Thomas decided to fulfill one of her childhood dreams by moving to South Korea. In this book, she related the challenges she encountered while teaching English as a second language to Korean school children in grades one-six, during which she felt a kind of rage that was similar to that of the Incredible Hulk on a daily basis.

Hilarious and informative
Revisado: 08-01-18
This was so funny. Thomas included her -isms throughout the book that made her stories of her journey more personable. It was as if your best friend was telling you about this crazy thing that happened. She portrayed the random and awesome events that can happen when you solo travel. I very much recommend this book to anyone but especially anyone interested in traveling solo.

Jenifer Lewis keeps it real in this provocative and touching memoir by a Midwestern girl with a dream whose journey from poverty to Hollywood will move, shock, and inspire listeners. Told in the audacious voice her fans adore, Jenifer describes a road to fame made treacherous by dysfunction and undiagnosed mental illness, including a sex addiction. Yet, supported by loving friends and strengthened by "inner soldiers", Jenifer never stopped entertaining and creating.

Superb
Revisado: 02-19-18
The best audiobook memoir I've ever read. Dr. Ms. Jenifalewis gave me the permission I needed to be the black creative I am. It also gave me the understanding that growing up misunderstood and not believed is just a part of it and you have to be loud and boisterous any-goddamn-way, as Jenifer might say. I've always loved this woman and even growing up wished I'd seen more of her on TV and in movies. Thanks to this book I now know why. I originally saw the length of the book and thought, Oof that might be too much Jenifer Lewis. It wasn't.

Tiffany can't avoid being funny: it's just who she is. But The Last Black Unicorn is so much more than a side-splittingly hilarious collection of essays - it's a memoir of the struggles of one woman who came from nothing and nowhere. A woman who was able to achieve her dreams by reveling in her pain and awkwardness, showing the world who she really is, and inspiring others through the power of laughter.

This is a real life Cinderella story. Tiffany Haddish goes from rags to ... well, you'll have to read/listen to the book to find out the twist.
