This story blurs the line between dementia and fantasy for an adventure in time and addresses the idea of someone making a choice that then propels them down the “right” path for their life.

The narrator did a great job with the tone of the book and voicing the different characters! It was easy to know who was talking and the audio was clear.

Just a note - there is gratuitous casual use of the racial slur for the Romani people. I myself was only made aware that this word was a slur a short number of years ago and it was used a lot in pop culture and American life as I grew up so it may be that not everyone knows that it IS a slur. Something to keep in mind if you wish to listen.

Wow! There was so much happening going into this book that I was a little wary that there would not be time enough to wrap up all of the different plots, but it all worked out!
I was hoping there would be a short convo at some point where Hanna brought up to her mom how when she first saw a ghost she was rebuffed by her bringing it up and how that affected her for years going forward, but that didn't happen and that's ok.

The narrator Jess Wright did an incredible job through the series. It was easy to know which character was speaking the whole time; the action was appropriately intense or subdued; the audio was clear and quality. I had a truly enjoyable listening experience.

Daaaang, that ending though!

All the characters are back for book 4 and the plot continues to thicken with magic, shifting, and possession.
Consistent narration and engaging plot. I'm glad I don't have to wait to listen to book 5!

Teenage Supernatural Drama

I loved listening to this supernatural book! I'm starting book 2 right away!

Told from the perspective of a teenage girl, narrator Jess Wright gives a natural performance with sass, curiosity, and young-person angst. I also love that some of the adult characters have a mid-Atlantic accent. It is fun and fresh. The sound quality is top notch.
Writer Jeni Conrad writes in a way that you understand/remember talking as a teen. The hubris of thinking you know the way to do everything while also having so many questions about the world around you.

Hannah can see ghosts, but until her sophomore year of high school she has avoided getting involved with any of them. Now a ghost teacher in her History classroom is speaking over her teacher who is alive, and she doesn't think she will be able to pass the class if she doesn't do something about it. Addressing this matter opens her eyes to a whole world of the supernatural and the fact that there are a lot more people around her who are not "normal humans". She's a teenager though and can't fight the hormones that keep a large part of her focus on the boys she's crushing on!

Please note that there is an eating disorder plot in this book.

Great World-Building and Narration!

This is quite an epic tale! The world created by the writer has many lands and includes prejudices, treaties, and shifting loyalties, all explained in a clear manner. I am usually wary of books with a main female character written by a man, but this one has done a good job and I'm very glad a female narrator was chosen! (More on her later).
There is a rape that occurs in the book so be aware of that going in. It isn't graphic per say, but it is detailed in the trauma response.

Cheryl-Annette Parker, the narrator, is brilliant! It looks like she doesn't have many audiobooks out on Audible yet, but having this 12 hour book with many characters and different accents as one of her firsts is an astounding feat! She is absolutely one to watch and I can't wait to see what she puts out going forward.

Cozy Magic & Fantasy with a dash of Romance

Jess Moran expertly narrated this fun and cozy magic-gone-wrong story with clean audio and fun expressions!

For a town that has banned magic, a library section in the castle seems to have quite a few books about the subject... Our heroine accidently stumbles across a cookbook in this section and believes it to have been mishelved. She takes it home to try a recipe and oops! It summons a magical being!

It is difficult to believe someone would be so stubborn as to not accept the slightest help from friends because their grandparents who raised her seemed to have it all together when they were alive, because obviously they had so many more years to learn and perfect their system along with having each other and YOU to help out. BUT sometimes fiction does need to exaggerate a bit to drive the message.

I recommend this book if you like magic, fantasy, clean romance, and great narration!

The narration for Pieces by Lara Terco is absolutely professional - Clean audio, smooth natural narration, and a wide range of distinct consistent character voices that made me smile. There is an audio snafu that has the new chapter announcements come very abruptly, but I'm not docking the rating for that because everything else far out-ways that.

I wasn't aware that this book was a sequel so I was a little confused in the first third or so when the first book's plot was referenced a couple times, so if you read this review before you purchase it you may want to buy the first one as well BUT if you are aware it is a sequel and can only buy one copy - buy this one. The narration is perfection and the plot explains what you need from the first.
I would love a world in which women weren't targeted by serial killers and their bodies weren't objectified, but neither the real world nor the world of the book is that. There are men who for some reason think that a rejection is a personal attack and it means the woman is "better than them". I wish I knew how to purge the world of that nonsense idea...

The book kept me interested throughout and the author actually gives you a chance to guess who the murderer is - treating his audience like they aren't dumb. I appreciate that instead of hiding ALL of the clues until the end. That being said - it certainly isn't clear who it is until it is revealed.
The book deals with serial murder and some gore is described along with violence and abuse towards women.

When listening to/reading self-help books, I always find myself wondering if the author has asked themselves what I would: "Am I writing something that is different than anything else out there? If not, am I writing it in a more accessible manner?"
For the majority of books I come across, the answers I would give are no and no. This book is no different.
If you have not read material on ADHD before and you are searching for answers, sure, go ahead and read this one. It will probably help! If you have already done a bunch of research and have read other books, there is no point in reading this one.

The intro was repetitive, but luckily it mostly snaps out of that for the body of the text. Repetitiveness is a thing for self-help.
The narrator was very good for the most part, but there are specific words that they do not pronounce correctly that are said over and over again and make for a very distracting listen for a person with ADHD.
