Historia
Now hailed as an American classic, Tropic of Cancer, Henry Miller's masterpiece, was banned as obscene in this country for 27 years after its first publication in Paris in 1943. Only a historic court ruling that changed American censorship standards, ushering in a new era of freedom and frankness in modern literature, permitted the publication of this first volume of Miller's famed mixture of memoir and fiction.

Worst book I've ever read/listened to!
Revisado: 11-08-10
I'm going to assume this book is a classic because the language used was shocking in its day, but now it just seems crude and the storyline was boring beyond belief.

Historia
Pocket has been Lear's cherished fool for years. So naturally Pocket is at his brainless, elderly liege's side when Lear demands that his kids swear to him their undying love and devotion. Of course Goneril and Regan are only too happy to brownnose Dad. But Cordelia believes that her father's request is kind of...well...stupid, and her blunt honesty ends up costing her her rightful share of the kingdom and earns her a banishment to boot.

Painfully foolish...
Revisado: 03-14-10
It's rare that I do not finish an audiobook, but I had to make an exception for this one. It was tedious, boring....I feel foolish for wasting a credit on it!

I **HATE** when audiobooks are abridged!
Revisado: 03-15-09
I'm working my way through all of the Stone Barrington novels and I was so disappointed to find this one was only available in abridged form. I never buy an abridged version if I can avoid it because it makes me feel like I'm missing out on important details (or that someone else is taking the liberty of deciding for me what are the important details I should know). Overall it was a great story, but I'd have rather had it in its original form - as the author wrote it!

Heralded as an instant classic of fantasy literature, Maguire has written a wonderfully imaginative retelling of The Wizard of Oz told from the Wicked Witch's point of view. More than just a fairy tale for adults, Wicked is a meditation on the nature of good and evil.

A Wicked Delight!
Revisado: 03-15-09
I've been a Wizard of Oz fan for far too many years to count, and a couple of years ago had the opportunity to enjoy Wicked on the London stage. I was very excited to find the audiobook here on Audible, as it goes into so much more rich detail than could ever be delivered in the stage version. Don't get me wrong, both were awesome, but the audiobook just delivered so much more and kept me enthralled for hours at a time. I literally could not wait to listen to more!
