Accidental binge listen

Not as expected.

Thought it would be a sweet story to listen to, but…. The written word does not always equal the spoken word.
Example - I had to re-listen multiple times for vague context to understand why the narrator was referring to one person as a they/them. There was no spoken explanation as to why - it was just implied.
Would prefer straight forward story lines - thanks.

I bought just because of I love author’s prior works! I have read/listened to all other books. This was such a disappointment!
Honestly - loved Lovey, but there were some historical inaccuracies - coupled with a bad narration. Unfortunately, Whoopie’s only seemed excited in her reading when she could talk about the horrific accounts of the stage trade. I do agree with the premise, but her narration made it seem more political rather than sharing a complete story about Lovey’s struggle and overcoming adversity to protect her history!!
My recommendation - pass up this reading. But the print book!!

But I truly enjoyed this story, and would encourage anyone who is looking for “feel good” read, without any political or “socially acceptable” undercurrents that so many contemporary fiction books have these days, this is it!!

I am glad this was written; but do not believe those on the left will believe. It is said that politicians love the youth vote, because they are so easy to impress. The youth of the Original Clinton Era are now seasoned adults...
Many of these adults are still fully immersed in the PC beliefs, and leaning so far to the left it is bizarre. What is worse is that they have been bureaucrats, educators and parents for an entire generation.
Our military and country are weak due to the Clinton reign, and much of our public is weak and worry about PC and being called racists, homophobes, etc. We - the citizens - need to wake up and realize that we are one president away from losing our country. If this next president does nothing else, they will leave their legacy by who they appoint to the Supreme Court.
Folks, this is real. Your freedoms are only yours if you wake up and speak up. And - if you don't wake up soon, you lose. I am scared for our country.
God Bless the USA. We need to pray for change, but we need to also be good stewards of our land and let our voices be heard!!
