Historia
In the tradition of Frank McCourt’s Angela’s Ashes and Alice Taylor’s To School Through the Fields, Tom Phelan’s We Were Rich and We Didn't Know It is a heartfelt and masterfully written memoir of growing up in Ireland in the 1940s. We Were Rich and We Didn't Know It recounts Tom’s upbringing in an isolated, rural community from the day he was delivered by the local midwife. With tears and laughter, it speaks to the strength of the human spirit in the face of life's adversities.

Poignant , real and rich! I loved hearing about life on an Irish farm in the 50s I loved hearing about how his father and mother never showed outward displays of affection, but how the author understood how much they loved each other by the fact that every night after dinner, his father would get up and wash the dishes, while his mother sat by the fire and read the paper… And so much more

Historia
The crucifixion and resurrection of Christ are central events in our salvation. Yet few Christians have a good grasp of the first-century historical and religious context in which the crucifixion took place, nor of its true significance for the people of that time - and hence for our time as well. Biblical scholar and attorney Dr. Jeannie Constantinou puts modern listeners in the center of the events of Christ's Passion, bringing the best of modern scholarship to bear while keeping her interpretation faithful in every particular to the Orthodox tradition.

Should be pronounced “ Porshus” . Ti is a two letter phonogram that says “sh” ... as a phonics teacher… It bothered me, sorry.

Historia
The Fields tells the story of Sayward as a wife and mother, working with her own brood on that hard frontier to create a durable home, and aspects of civilization in a region where life is still difficult and towns are just beginning to appear. It is a rich and human novel about personal conflicts and strife in the midst of a land that itself is striving. And it has an epic quality that perfectly reflects the sweeping conquest of the frontier.

Sickeningly boring dribble
Revisado: 11-07-20
Long winded soap opera that I tried to like because I identified somewhat with main character but in the end I totally lost patience with this agonizingly drawn out drama and could not finish it.

Historia
In March 1865, the long and bitter War between the States is winding down. Till now, 23-year-old Simon Boudlin has evaded military duty thanks to his slight stature, youthful appearance, and utter lack of compunction about bending the truth. But following a barroom brawl in Victoria, Texas, Simon finds himself conscripted, however belatedly, into the Confederate Army. Luckily his talent with a fiddle gets him a comparatively easy position in a regimental band.

Another excellent story from Paulette Giles. Well drawn characters. I was transported and I did not want the story to end. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in the Civil War and anyone interested in three dimensional characters.

Historia
Fyodor Dostoyevsky is a titanic among the world's great authors, and The Brothers Karamazov is often hailed as his finest novel. A masterpiece on many levels, it transcends the boundaries of a gripping murder mystery to become a moving account of the battle between love and hate, faith and despair, compassion and cruelty, good and evil.

Excellent Narration!
Revisado: 05-31-19
I have never been able to read this book… I just found it too difficult to follow and I guess I just didn’t have the patience but I thoroughly enjoyed the narration of it and actually could not stop listening to it . Mr. Smith is an unbelievably skilled narrative reader. His command of all the different voices with all their nuances made the story come alive.
