I loved every single second of this book. It was just what I want in a Christmas book. There is so much emotion and heart in this one. It had the vibe of the movie the Family Stone. It's not the same plot or anything but the closeness and banter between family members has the same vibe. I think the movie is even referenced in the book.

My heart was so happy that the characters were closer to my own age. Whitney was so relatable. Especially her longing of becoming a mother but knowing that isn't a likely possibility at her age really struck a nerve in me having gone through a similar path. Always being the one going to family functions solo, loving her nieces and nephews as intensely as they were her own.

I loved her family so much. The mom was loving and so funny. The Dad stole my heart with his Elvis impersonating and Holiday itinerary. They both had so much love and pride for their kids that it just oozed off the pages. The banter with her siblings and the side story of her sister's marriage. Just so incredibly real.

Eli was a character you kind of hated even though you loved him. I think his character was presented in a way that you aren't really sure of anything but that he completely broke her heart. The flashbacks were brutal when he hurt her. The flashbacks of their good times was swoon-worthy. So you just didn't know what happened until it all comes out. And of course you forgive him because he is every bit a loveable character. They just meshed and I liked that even though she had animosity for him, that she still had empathy and helped him survive her family Christmas.

And can I just say Peyton stole the show. I can picture the little guy so clearly and I want nothing more that to swoop him up in a giant bear hug!

There was enough Christmas spirit and cheer to make me feel immersed in the Holidays with this family.

Just read it. You won't be disappointed. You might shed a tear or two, but it will be worth it. I listened to it and of course the narration was impeccable as always with Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell.

And let's not forget that there is a Sean Roberts cameo that made this girl grin like a lunatic during the whole scene. I'm curious to when this falls into that timeline. I'm guessing pre-Tessa. For my Ravenhood gals, what do you think?

A little glimpse into the beautiful mind of Eddie Vedder! I wish he would consider doing this for all of their songs. I will listen to this again!
