Even if you don’t farm, this is a brilliant story and education.
Revisado: 08-08-20
Thank you for telling your story, the story of your family and farm. It is the journey from conventional farming to deliberate permaculture farming over the course of 25 or so years. I live in the pacific north west, in Canada and even so I learned tons and was interested the entire time. Enough science and explanation in combination with observation that it is not difficult to keep going.
Not a professional narrator but it is the author and so I would rather have the expert explain. :)

Historia
Doctors, nurses, medics and stretcher-bearers must venture wherever someone is injured and the cry for assistance goes up. Their job is to put themselves in the heart of danger – to risk their own lives as they try to save the dying. War at its rawest is their domain, an ugly place of shattered bodies, severed limbs and death. They fulfil society’s vital pledge to its warriors that they will not be abandoned on the battlefield. Yet, more often than not, what they do goes unnoticed – except by those who survive because of their extraordinary courage and skill.

This is an amazing book. Brilliant look into the history of military medics and the stories of a few in more recent conflicts. Makes it all real and is told in a clear and realistic way. I recommend it fully.

Historia
Here is the astonishing, never-before-told story of the greatest rescue mission of World War II: when the OSS set out to recover more than 500 airmen trapped behind enemy lines. During a bombing campaign, hundreds of American airmen were shot down in Nazi-occupied Yugoslavia. Local Serbian villagers risked their own lives to give refuge to the soldiers, and for months the airmen lived in hiding, waiting for rescue.

Just read it, totally worth it.

This is a riveting book that does a great job of making the basics of the politics clear enough to get an idea of the back drop. Through the book we get excellent snippets of people’s lives before and after their plane goes down. Truly a new part of the war for me and a brilliant untold story of heroism and persistence. More than that though it is the story of people and that shines through. I read a lot of World War Two memoirs and non fictions, this ranks right up near the top. Try it. I don’t think you will be in any way disappointed.

Historia
Israel Meir Lau, one of the youngest survivors of Buchenwald, was just eight years old when the camp was liberated in 1945. Descended from a 1,000-year unbroken chain of rabbis, he grew up to become Chief Rabbi of Israel--and like many of the great rabbis, Lau is a master storyteller. Out of the Depths is his harrowing, miraculous, and inspiring account of life in one of the Nazis' deadliest concentration camps, and how he managed to survive against all possible odds.

There is so much in this book. A holocaust story full of tragedy and perseverance. A peek into Israel and Jewish study. A look at the cost of losing family and the beauty of growing family as well. Interesting conversations with both notable and mostly unknown people of many faiths and nationalities. Read this book. It is beautifully written by a gifted speaker and writer. Everyone has something to learn and take from this book.

This is a great addition to the 101st trove of knowledge. A different view and adds details and context outside of the BOB lens. Really so good and seems quite honest. Try it!
