Historia
In Sister Mother Husband Dog, Delia Ephron brings her trademark wit and effervescent prose to a series of autobiographical essays about life, love, writing, movies, and family. From keen observations on modern living, the joy of girlfriends, and best-friendship, to a consideration of the magical madness and miracle of dogs, to haunting recollections of life with her famed screenwriter mother and growing up the child of alcoholics, Ephron's eloquent style and voice illuminate every moment of this superb and singular work.

Meg Ryan is too perky of a narrator
Revisado: 12-13-13
Would you consider the audio edition of Sister Mother Husband Dog to be better than the print version?
No
What was one of the most memorable moments of Sister Mother Husband Dog?
I couldn't finish it. Got tired of the perky narration
What three words best describe Meg Ryan’s performance?
too lighthearted
Any additional comments?
I listened to Delia Ephron being interviewed on Fresh Air which is what sold me on buying her book. I think she would have been a better narrator. Meg would do well narrating children's books of a lighthearted or silly nature.

So disappointed in the narration
Revisado: 06-16-13
If you could sum up And the Mountains Echoed in three words, what would they be?
Good Story Hard listen
What other book might you compare And the Mountains Echoed to and why?
Didn't get that far in the book - gave up due to the poor narration.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
I don't know why Hosseini felt the need to create an unnatural and slurred way of speaking as he read his story. His own voice or another's narration would have been much preferred. I have decided not to continue with the Audible listening and instead find a copy of the book to read. Very disappointing. I had the same problem with Lacuna, Barbara Kingsolver's book ,where she read her own story - sometimes having the author read their works is just not a good idea. I wish Audible would pay more attention to this matter.

ANOTHER POIGNANT MEMOIR
Revisado: 05-15-10
I have found myself drawn to memoirs written by Europeans during the time of WW 2. Strong family ties, loyalty and dependence on one another marks all of the stories. This one in particular touched my heart as a little girl and her older sister make their way through war torn Germany.

Beautiful & honestly written memoir
Revisado: 05-14-10
This is one of the best memoirs I have listened to. The life story of a remarkable woman who left England as an adolescent with her mother and brother to visit their grandmother in Austria. It is tempting to tell more of her story but I do not want to be spoiler for the next listener of this intriguing, heart wrenching and yet heart warming story. I would give this 6 stars if I could!

Repetitious and longwinded
Revisado: 01-26-10
This would have been an excellent book if the ruminations and inner dialogue of the protagonist had been cut by about 2/3. I found this aspect of the book repetitious and exhausting. I stayed with it only because I was curious as to how this murder mystery would turn out.
