Historia
After the sudden death of her troubled mother, struggling Harvard grad student Kate Drayton walks out on her lecture - and her entire New England life. Haunted by unanswered questions and her own uncertain future, she flees to Charleston, South Carolina, the place where her parents met, convinced it holds the key to understanding her fractured family and saving her career in academics. Kate is determined to unearth groundbreaking information on a failed 1822 slave revolt - the subject of her mother's own research.

Superb

First audio book where I was able to keep track of the characters, storyline, and overall just become.so deeply engrossed. I literally groaned out loud as chapters would end and at times had to brush tears from my cheeks.

For the writer

From the moment Nicole mentioned her purple pen I was hooked! A great combination of sample writing, poetry, and real life connections to being a writer.

Historia
This book builds on a simple premise: good teaching cannot be reduced to technique but is rooted in the identity and integrity of the teacher. Good teaching takes myriad forms but good teachers share one trait: they are authentically present in the classroom, in community with their students and their subject. They possess "a capacity for connectedness" and are able to weave a complex web of connections between themselves, their subjects, and their students, helping their students weave a world for themselves.

Loved it. Forgot how great this book is. This book is amazingly and sadly still relevant today.
