Even after the fourth listen, still find it captivating and so grounded in a potential future.

Historia
The Ministry for the Future is a masterpiece of the imagination, using fictional eyewitness accounts to tell the story of how climate change will affect us all. Its setting is not a desolate, post-apocalyptic world, but a future that is almost upon us - and in which we might just overcome the extraordinary challenges we face.

An incredible journey through the complex web of climate change challenges, told from so many unique perspectives. It’s both a cautionary tale and a glimmer of hope for our future. Highly recommend this thought-provoking and inspiring read!

Historia
What if you found a way to send something back in time? But not weeks, days, or even minutes back. What if you could only send something back a fraction of a second? Would this be of any use? You wouldn't have nearly enough time to right a wrong, change an event, or win a lottery. Nathan Wexler is a brilliant physicist who thinks he's found a way to send matter a split second back into the past. But before he can even confirm his findings, he and his wife-to-be, Jenna Morrison, find themselves in a battle for their very lives.

Was my first D.E.R. book, but absolutely not the last
Revisado: 02-24-24
I'd highly recommend it. The protagonists excel at logical problem-solving, continuously adapting to challenges using their intellect rather than brute force. The novel's premise rests on a fascinating exploration of near-future scientific concepts, presented realistically and based on contemporary understanding. This blend of clever deduction and plausible science makes it a great choice for readers who crave a grounded yet thrilling experience.

Historia
As AI and robotics eliminate jobs across the spectrum, governmental revenues will plummet while the debt increases dramatically. This crisis of limited resources on all levels - underfunded or nonexistent pensions, health problems, lack of savings, and job destruction without comparable job creation - will drive many into homelessness and produce a dramatic rise in violence as we fight over shrinking resources.

So much has happened in the field of AI since this book was written. Wish the writer would do an update.

How will artificial intelligence affect crime, war, justice, jobs, society, and our very sense of being human? The rise of AI has the potential to transform our future more than any other technology - and there's nobody better qualified or situated to explore that future than Max Tegmark, an MIT professor who's helped mainstream research on how to keep AI beneficial.

Should be compulsory reading!

At the very least everyone should read the prologue, because even if AI seems uninteresting to one, the future of our species should be of a concern to all!

Really enjoying pondering on the future existence of our species and the end of time, but the 30 minutes of "music" after the book, made me want to fast forward to the end of times! Why was that torture in there?
