Historia
There are plenty of words Jonah Collins could use to describe Dylan Ramírez. “Arrogant,” “spoiled,” and “golden boy” to name a few. Likewise, Dylan thinks he has Jonah accurately labeled as an attention-seeking asshat who never shuts his filthy mouth. Their friends are convinced Jonah’s and Dylan’s disdain for one another is just thinly veiled lust—a rumor that surges like wildfire when the two wake up in one bed after homecoming. Mutually horrified, Dylan and Jonah agree to use the faux pas to their advantage by fake dating.

Perfect
Revisado: 07-15-23
Enemies to lovers? Love it. Dumbasses to lovers? Also love it. Enemy Dumbasses to Lovers? Perfection. Enemy Dumbasses to Lovers with deep emotional impact and exploring themes of abuse, trauma and growth? Indescribably, perfectly, wonderfully good. I love these idiots so much.

Can’t Judge a Book By Its Cover
Revisado: 07-08-23
This sat in my library for months while I put off reading it again and again - all because I didn’t like the cover art 😂
I’m glad I got over myself enough to give it a listen. It was genuinely so sweet and heartwarming and I liked both the narrators. It takes a good author to make you hate a character at first and then slowly come to love them, but that’s exactly how I felt about Theo. I’m glad he got his ray of sunshine in the end 😊

Historia
Sixteen-year-old Elena Mendoza is the product of a virgin birth. This can be scientifically explained (it's called parthenogenesis), but what can't be explained is how Elena is able to heal Freddie, the girl she's had a crush on for years, from a gunshot wound in a Starbucks parking lot. Or why the boy who shot Freddie, David Combs, disappeared from the same parking lot minutes later after getting sucked up into the clouds. What also can't be explained are the talking girl on the front of a tampon box, or the reasons that David Combs shot Freddie in the first place.

Interesting, But A Little Long
Revisado: 01-27-23
Overall enjoyable and fans of Shaun David Hutchinson will appreciate a few references to his other books scattered throughout (but never so much as to be distracting). My only complaint is that it felt just a bit too long. There were several sections where essentially the same thing was said over and over. The same characters had the same conversations and the main character’s inner monologue repeated itself frequently. Could’ve used a bit of trimming down.

Historia
Nandan’s got a plan to make his junior year perfect, but hooking up with his friend Dave isn’t part of it - especially because Nandan has never been into guys. Still, Nandan’s willing to give a relationship with him a shot. But the more his anxiety grows about what his sexuality means for himself, his friends, and his social life, the more he wonders whether he can just take it all back.

A Really Sweet Story
Revisado: 05-30-21
I really enjoyed this one. It’s messy, it’s complicated, and it feels real. I would love to see a sequel and find out how Nandan eventually ends up identifying and how things turn out for him. On the narration front, I thought the reader did a great job with Nandan and brought his personality out well, but I disliked the voices for some of the other characters. In particular, Hen sounds like a parody of a gay guy and Mari sounded like a goofy cartoon character.
