Historia
It all began with a correspondence between two quite different women: 28-year-old Sara from Haninge, Sweden, and 65-year-old Amy from the small town of Broken Wheel, Iowa. After years of exchanging books, letters and thoughts on the meaning of literature and life, Sara, mousy, disheveled, who has never been anywhere in her life--has really lived only for her work in a beloved bookshop, which has just closed its doors for the last time--bravely decides to accept her unknown friend's invitation to visit. But when she arrives, she finds her house empty, the funeral guests just heading home. . .

Poor narration
Revisado: 03-13-16
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Would have been far better to read it as the narration was an awful distraction making it almost impossible to figure out who was speaking
Who was your favorite character and why?
Hard to determine. Narration caused too much confusion.
How could the performance have been better?
Better narration.

Historia
Maps have long exerted a special fascination on viewers - both as beautiful works of art and as practical tools to navigate the world. But to those who collect them, the map trade can be a cutthroat business, inhabited by quirky and sometimes disreputable characters in search of a finite number of extremely rare objects.
Once considered a respectable antiquarian map dealer, E. Forbes Smiley spent years doubling as a map thief - until he was finally arrested slipping maps out of books in the Yale University library.

Map lore, singsong narration
Revisado: 12-15-14
What did you like best about The Map Thief? What did you like least?
As noted by other reviews, the map lore overtook the story, and read in a rather singsong voice, it lead to lack of interest rather than learning.

Historia
Charlie Howard travels the globe writing suspense novels for a living. To supplement his income - and keep his hand in - Charlie has a small side business: stealing for a very discreet clientele on commission. When a mysterious American offers Charlie 20,000 euros to steal two small monkey figurines to match the one he already has, Charlie is suspicious; the job seems too good to be true, and of course, it is. He soon finds the American beaten nearly to death, while the third figurine has disappeared.

Fun Story, Well Written, Well Narrated
Revisado: 07-05-14
Would you consider the audio edition of The Good Thief's Guide to Amsterdam to be better than the print version?
Couldn’t ask for more. The story is excellent, the narrator is excellent and in all, a pleasure to listen to, fun, good plot and a generally likeable mystery.

Super Poor Narration
Revisado: 07-04-14
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
It’s so hard to get past the stilted narration, that the story becomes close to irrelevant. Perhaps good for someone learning English as a second language.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
The narration is so stilted that the words are separated as if they were meaningless.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
with better narration, the southern aspect would have been more plausible and then possibly, the story would have hung together much better.

Different take on immigration, but delivery flawed
Revisado: 08-14-12
Would you consider the audio edition of Mr. Rosenblum Dreams in English to be better than the print version?
No, I’d prefer to have read the book. The narrator has a lovely British accent but delivers all lies in the same voice and does not know how to pronounce any of the non English words or phrases. These shortcomings seriously detract from the audio book.
What did you like best about this story?
The story has a charming if unbelieveable aspect.
What didn’t you like about James Adams’s performance?
Prounouciation errors and lack of ability to read in any but his own voice.
Who was the most memorable character of Mr. Rosenblum Dreams in English and why?
Sadie Rosemblum, she seemed the most real and the most clearly drawn.
