Uniquely horrible in the best ways
Revisado: 04-08-25
MC's abilities are very innovative and fascinating to read about. The small POV change really sells just how grotesque the cult is, and yet the charity of the group really presents a nice counterpoint to the horrors that persist. The magic system is nicely defined and the characters vibrant and well crafted. Love the creativity behind pets and plastic surgery, and upcoming war applications. All round, a good webnovel adaption to audiobook.

Historia
No one leaves a negotiation happy. But wounded pride aside, Sylver was overjoyed with how everything turned out. He left with a talented clairvoyant, an army of highly skilled dark elves, a talking golden crowbar, the finger of the greatest lich to ever exist, and all it cost him was a fraction of a fraction of a century. Sadly Eira didn’t simply stop and wait for his return, Lola became a king, Bruno concocted abominations, Faust drowned his sorrows in powders and elixirs, and the ever-looming threat of High-Elves and Krists, loomed more than ever.

A faithful continuation of the series
Revisado: 03-24-25
Another installment of the LITRPG series. Same writing style with same OP protagonist. Builds on plot elements left in prior books. Not much character growth here. For someone who places so much importance on found family and friends, he certainly doesn't spend much time with them. Cutting a web serial that wasn't written for book installments is very awkward.

Historia
After fulfilling the duty all Arch Necromancers are tasked with, the last thing Sylver Sezari expected was to be reborn. He was usually the one reanimating dead things, after all. How ironic. But reborn he was. And after crawling his way back into the land of the living, he finds himself in a strange land, a strange time, and with a strange floating screen in front of his new face. Either through plan or chance, he’s alive again, and planning to enjoy himself to his heart's content.

Solid LITRPG
Revisado: 03-17-25
A very good example of this subgenre. An overpowered protagonist in a very well crafted world. I highly enjoyed the magic system and the unique interplays used here.

Historia
For more than 150 years I've served the Kingdom of Sena. Through four Kings and a Queen. Two wars and a rebellion. I've founded and taught at a magic school. I've fought against beast waves and dungeon breaks. But now? Now, the one close friend I had left has passed. So, I'm done with their politics and their economics. The short and busy lives of humans are more burden than benefit on the weary soul of this half-elf.

Satisfying high fantasy, with a LITRPG sprinkle
Revisado: 02-06-24
Overall a very entertaining tale. I like the main character and most of the side characters. I'll pretend Lily doesn't exist.
A very well thought out world. The magic and plot were well planned. There were a few side plots that didn't seem like they ever went anywhere but as a whole, the story reads like a slice of life fantasy.
Main audiobook narrator is amazing. I personally find the female narrator grating, but her voice is clear if annoying.
While levels a la LITRPG exists, it's done in a low key manner and is very digestible.

Aggressively American
Revisado: 10-23-23
I received this title for free and I am providing an honest review.
It was just bad all around. The opening scene was foreboding enough and ended up proving true. I hated every chapter.
The book is like a mash up of a propaganda video and C-list movie plots. America had to be mentioned in some way in every other sentence. Author relied much too heavily on trite sayings and predictable dialogue. I related to no characters because hardly anything was explained or adequately detailed.

A solid high fantasy
Revisado: 10-12-23
I was honestly pleasantly surprised by this novel. I received this as a free copy and actually didn't expect too much from it. I really liked the characters and magic system here. Main characters were flawed but vivid and likable. Dialogue flowed naturally. This novel is very self contained and ties up narrative threads neatly.
Narrator also did splendidly. Splendid performance.

Historia
Best-selling author Bryan Burrough recently made a shocking discovery: The small town of Temple, Texas, where he had grown up, had harbored a dark secret. One of his high school classmates, Danny Corwin, was a vicious serial killer. In this chilling tale, Burrough raises important questions of whether serial killers can be recognized before they kill or rehabilitated after they do. It is also a story of Texas politics and power that led the good citizens of the town of Temple to enable a demon who was their worst nightmare.

Zachary Quinto - best known for his role as the Nimoy-approved Spock in the recent Star Trek reboot and the menacing, power-stealing serial killer, Sylar, in Heroes - brings his well-earned sci-fi credentials and simmering intensity to this audio-exclusive novella from master storyteller John Scalzi. One day, not long from now, it becomes almost impossible to murder anyone - 999 times out of a thousand, anyone who is intentionally killed comes back. How? We don't know.

Historia
Late Victorian London. When James Miller, the most respectable of Scottish businessmen, is pulled, dead, from the Thames, his daughter is drawn into an investigation which reveals a whole world of secrets and corruption. Alongside local detective Culley, Catriona’s search for her father’s killer leads all the way to the tragic truth behind the ghostly legend of The Darkwater Bride and the power of her deadly kiss. The Darkwater Bride combines the genres of the Victorian mystery thriller with the equally classic Victorian mode of the ghostly tale.

Good for kids, bad for adults
Revisado: 05-04-21
Good for children, great cast AB performance, but not very enticing for adults.
Very little plot originality. Engaging enough to force finish, but too bland to really remember plot-wise.
2.5 stars.
Weak main character (like a soggy napkin), odd obsessive characters, OP side characters for haphazard plot devices, annoying character choices... like the children’s version of Pretty Little Liars. Trite “going viral” trope. ”The Nobility” name... like a bad Korean drama (Flower 4, anyone?)
Consumed via 2.5x speed, but even then it was hardly palatable. The more I think about it, the more I question why I still bother with Audible Originals. Too many have been disappointing for me.
Also, WTF on the shameless Audible plug. “Audible contacted me to share my story.” Um, okay.
“Begending.” All the mish-mashed words were terrible.
