Until I meet a real Olympian goddess, and she finally sheds light on the gods' biggest secret, and it's worse than I could have ever imagined. Turns out, there's a purpose to the Elysean Trails. There's a reason why they exist and why they choose mortals to bring to their Academy. A very good reason, just not the one the world knows.

Great Storyline, Poor Execution

I stuck it through because the female MC is often stupid, annoying, whiney at the beginning of these kinds of books but get better. That is not the case here. The female MC is whiney, weak, makes terribly stupid decisions, constantly in denial/ fainting/ unable to control her own actions or care about her own surroundings and it never stops. It is a frustrating listen and without the male MC and story, this series would be unreadable. She never seems to grow or get stronger of character despite so much going on.

The plan is simple—find the man who did something outrageous to me when I was five years old, get out of the city of gods, and never look back. If only it were that simple.

The narrator makes the already whiney FMC sound more whiney. It's obnoxious. The FMC is also weak and faints far too frequently for the life she should have lived, she should be stronger! If the storyline and MMC weren't so captivating, I would have given up much, much sooner.

Great story, love everyone but the MC.

I love this story and I adore the King of Crows, but I'm really frustrated by how willfully ignorant and infuriatingly obtuse the main character is. She chooses the worst options for her in every way, and doesn't seem to be learning any lessons. I got the second book in the hopes that she learns, since I do like all the other characters and the story, but she is really, really frustrating.

I have been a fan of Nora Roberts for 20 years. I have loved every single book by her I could find. This is the second series I've listened to rather than read and the narrator was beyond frustrating to listen to, making the book, story and characters, less appealing and a struggle to finish. The narrator's adult voices came off as childish, the reading stuttered. It didn't sound conversational, but rather like someone reading into a microphone that is push to talk, cutting things short. I truly hope the next 2 books are read better.

Claudia Black is so much better as a narrator than the previous narrator! HOWEVER, why can they not ever seen to pronounce things correctly?! Skeletal is Skeh-leh-tuhl, but Skeh-lEE-tuhl. Doyle has a y in his name, making him DO-Y-LE, NOT Dole. There are more, I just don't have the time. I wish Laurell K. Hamilton would listen to the stories as narrated and correct them!!!

This narrator cannot even keep the pronunciations she uses wrong straight. at the very least, if you insist on mispronouncing things, keep the same pronunciation the same across all the books!!!! Or get it right, at least! This narrator is driving me insane.
I love the story, though, and can't stop!

Desperate for a different reader

If this reader keeps this up, I might hunt her down and punch her. She can't pronounce just about anything of importance and some that are simple, basic, common words. It is BEYOND frustrating! I keep wanting to yell corrections. She could say half of it fine the first 3 books, why did she suddenly forget how to say them now?! GRRRRRRRRRRR.

Bad Narrator 😞 Very Murder She Wrote

I read this book a while back and have loved it. I'm listening because I wanted to hear it, but the narrator is AWFUL for this series. She sounds like your grandmother playing in Murder She Wrote and talking about sex and using swear words. I truly hope I can get past this. Additionally, the voices she used for males sounds robotic.
