Too much going on
Revisado: 11-28-23
I wanted to like this book. This was my first from this author and I also wanted to like this author. I’m not going to give up on him, I’ll try another but in retrospect, I saw a lot of recommendations for OTHER books of his, but not this one. This jumped around so much I couldn’t keep track. I restarted several times. I finally gave up and DNF.

But soon a rumor begins to spread that the evil stalking local teens is not entirely human. Law enforcement, as well as members of the FBI, are certain that the killer is a living, breathing madman - and he’s playing games with them.

Pretty interesting story
Revisado: 11-07-23
You have kind of an idea where the story is going, but not exactly how it’s going to get there. This is not exactly a thriller, but a pretty decent romance.

Historia
Emma Carpenter lives in isolation with her golden retriever Laika, house-sitting an old beachfront home on the rainy Washington coast. Her only human contact is her enigmatic old neighbor, Deek, and (via text) the house’s owner, Jules. One day, she reads a poorly written—but gruesome—horror novel by the author H. G. Kane, and posts a one-star review that drags her into an online argument with none other than the author himself. Soon after, disturbing incidents start to occur at night.

Historia
Photographer Isla Wilson is thrilled she's landed her dream job, but the clients who hired her are getting stranger by the day. It sounded so perfect—a month's assignment at the lush Scottish Highlands property of architect Alban McGregor, and his wife, Jessica. But in the woods, there's a playhouse with a chilling history. Two years ago, the McGregors' daughter Elodie was abducted and then died in that playhouse. The townspeople insist her abductor had to be a stranger in their town. Alban refuses to knock the playhouse down, even keeping a picture of it on his wall.

Dumb
Revisado: 07-10-23
How bad do you have to be for your “partner” to practically drown you and in the next sentence, go on about how much you love them. Kelly was very unlikable and I was like on her side with any decision she made. Wish I had this credit back

Best book I’ve read in a while!
Revisado: 09-08-22
I got hooked on Billy Jensen from watching the HBO special I’ll be Gone in the Dark. I was obsessed by everything I could get my hands on about Michelle McNamara. Billy teamed up with Michelle on the task of finding the Golden State Killer. When Michelle passed away, he helped finish writing her book.
I loved everything about this book. Just enough personal stories to liven up the theme of the book and not make it dry and analytical. It was like I was having a conversation with Billy. A very interesting conversation. Also I’m a little ashamed to admit that I love this book even more than the Michelle McNamara book, even though in her defense, she didn’t get to finish it the way she really wanted.
