Historia
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

Fantastic book. Riveting drama
Revisado: 10-18-15
Great mix of technical and human drama. You never knew what was going to happen or how it might end. How many times can you beat the odds and have human ingenuity triumph over the harsh realities of life in space?

Great stories. Great book for anyone who runs their own business
Revisado: 09-12-15
There are lessons here whether you plan to sell your business or not. No matter what everyone thinks, there is so much more to selling a business than money.

Historia
Yarvi, second son of the feared King Uthrik and the ruthless Queen Laithlin of Gettland, was born with a useless hand, and cannot hold a shield, or do any of the things expected from a man. Left an outcast, he's surrendered his birthright and been given a woman's place as apprentice to Mother Gundring, Gettland's Minister, training to be an adviser, diplomat, healer and translator. But when his father and brother are murdered by Grom-gil-Gorm, King of neighboring Vansterland, Yarvi is forced to take the Black Chair and become king himself.

Historia
Explore the power of the underdog in Malcolm Gladwell's dazzling examination of success, motivation, and the role of adversity in shaping our lives, from the best-selling author of The Bomber Mafia. Three thousand years ago on a battlefield in ancient Palestine, a shepherd boy felled a mighty warrior with nothing more than a stone and a sling, and ever since then the names of David and Goliath have stood for battles between underdogs and giants. David's victory was improbable and miraculous. He shouldn't have won. Or should he have?

Good stories and perspectives that make you think
Revisado: 07-11-15
As always, Gladwell does a great job of introducing alternative viewpoints that deserve consideration. I always finish his books with lots to think about and consider.

Historia
Ray Kurzweil, the bold futurist and author of the New York Times best seller The Singularity Is Near, is arguably today’s most influential technological visionary. A pioneering inventor and theorist, he has explored for decades how artificial intelligence can enrich and expand human capabilities. Now, in his much-anticipated How to Create a Mind, he takes this exploration to the next step: reverse-engineering the brain to understand precisely how it works, then applying that knowledge to create vastly intelligent machines.

Intriguing concepts worth thinking about
Revisado: 05-17-15
Great book with very clear explanations of how we will eventually build machines with more power than the human brain. The key concept is not that the machines will replace human intelligence but rather they will significantly enhance it, much like every other tool we have built. So you think it is impossible? If you have ever asked Siri a question and gotten a reasonable answer then you have connected your brain to the Internet via a wireless connection and that connection has made you more intelligent than you were without it. You should read the book and learn how we will eventually Create a Mind.
