Chapter one appears to be a repeat of the introduction. Thus, the PDF is not in sync with the recording.
The audio book starts with phrases that more complex phrases, such as "My brother always wins the races."
Finally, I'm fairly convinced that the female speaker is not a native speaker, sounds very American. Perhaps it's a second language for her, but it's definitely not close to what you'd get listening to the true accents of a Latin American native speaker.

More for early intermediate learners. While it has some introductory lessons, it starts out with a relatively fast pace and assumptions more akin to an early intermediate book. The narration was incredibly clear and helpful, though.

A reference guide that is just as advertised: only simple phrases, not grammar, phonetics, etc.

I've tried several audio books to learn Spanish, but this is one of the very few that seemed to "click" on first try. The subjects are well presented and relevant, unlike so many other books that dive deeply into the rabbit holes of pronunciation early on.

I really like the way they put all words in context, coupled with the right amount of repetition.

This is nothing but a very long, annoying infomercial. You will have to go almost an hour to get to any substance. Strongly disappointed in this book.

The actual story is good and told sufficiently well but it takes what essentially is a two-month, high-drama ordeal and starts that narrative after more than a dozen chapters. Perhaps there wasn’t enough copy to fill a larger book so the author crammed a load of personal stories to extend the number of pages.

Excellent overview and narration of Antietam. I strongly recommend this if you’re going to visit the area.

As a long-time fan of endurance sports, I've followed Kara's career since her college days. I've also heard her speak in person in her hometown of Duluth. Clearly, she's a passionate, honest, kind person -- "Minnesota nice to the core." You can hear these qualities in her voice on the audiobook.

The audio book is a tough listen because it varies between the Nike story (as noted by the subtitle of the book) and Kara's own personal story, which seems most unlucky due to injuries, family, etc.

To the author's credit, the book was aimed at the Nike story, yet it delivers a heartbreaking story of Kara's ups and downs in the sport irrespective of Nike. Since both stories were provided ("entered into evidence", as they say), I had hoped the book would delve more into why she was seemingly always injured (compared to other elites whose careers are seemingly less marred, it seems), why Americans have such a problem with strategy (pushing the pace vs. the East Africans in marathons), and perhaps even tips on hydration, nutrition, tapering, etc., that us common-type runners would appreciate. These are patterns that we could understand: were all the injuries due to training? shoes? form?

Instead, there is a lot of elite-specific parlance -- splits, seconds, etc. -- that is probably unappreciated and/or misunderstood by 99% of us.

Obviously, Kara's story-telling of the Nike story is impeccable, in my view. But therein lies another conundrum. With almost zero TV coverage of track and fields today (outside of the Olympics), does one want to see the big elephant in the room destroyed, since it seems to be the only one left to sponsor events and keep the sport alive at the higher end? I have never been a Nike customer (they just don't fit me well), but I went to Eugene, OR, last year to the World Championships and was in awe of all that the Big Elephant had done for the running world, good and bad.

In sum, the book is quite engaging but would probably appeal to a wider audience if it had been targeted more to the common runner (which, as I admit, was never promised by the book's own subtitle).
