Ready for the movie version

I’m usually not a fan of this type of mystery fiction genre, but after listening to the sample I knew it was going to be a good diversion on a rainy weekend. The readings are great— several different voice actors give life to the characters pretty much flawlessly. Which is a plus when it comes to keeping them all straight since there are so many. I liked that this was not as predictable as most of the other titles in this genre though there was still something about it that didn’t quite ring true—like it was already in production for the movie version. Maybe I’m just jaded…I’d still recommend it to anyone who wants a some good entertainment.

Stick to your expertise regarding Narcissism

I’m going to strongly suggest that the host of this podcast stay with the topic of Narcissism and not get into areas of politics. I don’t care about anyone’s opinions on political matters and it’s a bit disingenuous to say it’s a show about one thing and then it’s just another forum for bashing the country. Frankly we are lucky to live in a country where we can express our opinions. But that doesn’t mean I signed up to hear them.

Bee expert shares short & sweet helpful tips

Absolutely abuzz about this podcast. As a long time beekeeper it’s always great to hear from the top experts in the field about pest management and over wintering methods. Kim Flottum is well known for his expertise and a respected publisher of one of the best bee journals around. It’s just great to have him share his knowledge in this short but very sweet podcast format. Thanks for making it available!

One of the best true crime podcasts out there

I am a fan of the true crime genre and have checked out numerous podcasts on the subject. The Vanished is by far the best—smooth and easy narration plus interviews with the friends and family members of the missing. Kudos for covering cases even if they the person may have substance abuse issues or mental health problems. All missing people deserve to be found, While some of the family members express similar feelings of frustration with law enforcement’s lack of concern, I never tire of this well researched and empathetic podcast.

Vapid and superficial tripe

The entire story is about a guy crashing Hollywood parties and premieres. Repetitive and one-note, I am so glad I got this for free but I would compare this to potato chips for the mind. Really not good for you yet popular just the same.

More than a biography - a map through fresh grief

Didion is an erudite and generous writer, opening up her life “warts and all “ sharing raw pain, guilt and nearly all her thoughts during a time of incredible sadness. I re-read The Year of Magical Thinking after my husband died for its directness and relatable narrative. Over the years I often recommend her book to others who are struggling with grief and the loss of a family member.

I dig the Swami lectures -he is unique!

Kind of disagree with the other review because I think the Swami is not being all that serious in his lectures. He laughs often and his approach is unique and interesting to me as a person who has deepened my meditation practice.
