Historia
Not every danger comes in the form of a mega-threat like a Titan. Some predators are a lot cozier...more personal. When one such creature threatens an independent tutor, Harry Dresden must shake off the blood and dirt of his most recent battles and rise to the occasion, even when it turns out that the new predator is far more dangerous and connected than first appearances would suggest.

Some things improve with age!
Revisado: 03-04-24
Jim Butcher had always been an excellent writer. Now he’s gotten better. And he apparently has quite the group of characters to call his own.
I look forward to what he brings to life next.

Couldn’t put it down
Revisado: 11-14-23
Listened to it in one day. Absolutely delightful storytelling. Extremely engaging writing. Saw the series and had to read the books, which as usual, are so much better.
Love the characters. Onward to Book Three!

On the edge of my seat
Revisado: 01-27-20
I decided early on that I could not listen to this one before bed because falling asleep to the remarkable James Marsters was just not going to happen before exhaustion set in around 4am. The story was riveting. I literally had trouble taking my earphones out. And the last chapters (during breakfast) had me weeping or standing there with jaw dropped.
This was the most intricate and well written, plotted, orchestrated one in the series so far. Riveting and pulse racing in places. Oh my!!

No one's tried to kill Harry Dresden for almost an entire year, and his life finally seems to be calming down. For once, the future looks fairly bright. But the past casts one hell of a long shadow.

When just reading a novel isn’t enough
Revisado: 01-16-20
I’ve read all the Harry Dresden novels to date. Yet somehow listening to them brings elements and even whole sections of the story forward to me as if I had never read them at all. Yes I’ve been accused of reading too fast. I do. But having the characters acted out by someone whose talent as an actor I’ve always admired brings a whole different story almost from what I remember. It’s surprising and delightful and brings a richness of involvement I didn’t experience before. On to the next book in the series!

Historia
In Chicago, someone has been killing practitioners of magic, those incapable of becoming full-fledged wizards. Shockingly, all the evidence points to Harry Dresden's half brother, Thomas, as the murderer. Determined to clear his sibling's name, Harry uncovers a conspiracy within the White Council of Wizards that threatens not only him, but his nearest and dearest, too.

The Best one so far
Revisado: 01-13-20
James Marsters has been really good at the narration of all the Jim Butcher novels I’ve heard so far. White Knight has been a pleasure to listen to and his performance during this novel has been brilliant. I’ve admired his work on the several television characters he’s portrayed, however I feel his work with the Harry Dresden novels had been stellar. Bravo!

Why is a man narrating a woman’s story??
Revisado: 12-24-19
I don’t what the hurry was but the narrator seemed to be in a contest to see how fast he could narrate the story and get to the end. There was no “performance” I could have done a better job and I don’t know the first thing about how to “perform” reading. I love these books. I love this story. It may. It be the most involved or sophisticated novel but there is a lot to work with. I wasted a credit.

Marvelous!!
Revisado: 12-13-19
I have read this incredible and well written story three times before deciding that it might be interesting to hear someone else’s voice tell me the story. It was so much better! The repartee between our hero and heroine took on a whole new level of nuance and delight for me. Thank you Audible for adding gilding to this already bright treasure!!

Great Story
Revisado: 11-02-19
I love a happy ending! I actually had problems with the voice of the reader. I expected something a bit more refined. But he managed all the characterizations and made it work.
